Since 1818!\n\nThe EHS Assistant Manager plays a critical role in supporting and advancing Libbey’s environmental, health, safety, and security programs. This position ensures regulatory compliance, drives continuous improvement, and fosters a proactive safety culture in the Toledo plant and U.S. distribution centers. The Assistant Manager leads training efforts, supports audits and investigations, and mentors junior EHS staff while collaborating across departments to implement, maintain, and improve effective EHS systems.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\n\nAssist in developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS strategy, processes, and tools.\nEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.\nLead internal audits and inspections to verify compliance and identify improvement opportunities.\nDeliver and facilitate EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and supervisors.\nUnderstand and track leading and lagging indicators.\nOversee onboarding and induction training for new hires and contractors.\nLead, mentor and coach entry level associates (Coordinator and/or Technician) across sites.\nLead or support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.\nMaintain and track incident logs, corrective actions, and safety metrics.\nParticipate in emergency response planning and drills.\nOversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including labeling, storage, and disposal.\nMonitor air quality, noise, and chemical exposure sampling.\nEnsure proper inventory and accessibility of PPE and safety equipment.\nSupport SDS and hazard communication programs.\nCollaborate with plant leadership and supervisors to promote a proactive safety culture.\nParticipate in safety committee activities and continuous improvement initiatives.\nCollect and analyze EHS data to identify trends and guide decision-making.\nLead, influence and empower the organization to fulfill our purpose (living our legacy, shaping our future, and winning as one).\nCultivate a diverse and inclusive culture where associates can thrive, make us better and fuel ideas/innovations to ensure our long-term success.\nREQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS\n\nBachelor’s degree (EHS-related field preferred), or a combination of education and relevant experience\n3–6 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial settings\nStrong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations\nExcellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills\nStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office\nAbility to work across shifts and in various environments (indoor/outdoor, industrial)\nSafety/environmental certifications preferred (e.g., ASP, CSP, NFPA, OSHA 30-Hour, RCRA, HAZWOPER)\nExperience with behavior-based safety programs and lean manufacturing principles preferred\nInternal auditing experience and structured problem-solving skills preferred\nAbility to simultaneously manage short and long term projects of different priorities\nDemonstrated performance in a teamwork environment, with the interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and build relationships at all levels of the organization\nAbility to effectively train and develop others at all levels of the organization\nComfortable working in environments that include noise, heat, dust, or chemicals\nParticipation in the company’s respiratory protection program, including medical evaluation and fit testing, is required.\nTravel up to 15% as needed to provide on-site support and to attend conferences or trainings\nCOMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS\n\nTake Control: ask for the direction and support you need to attain mastery of your objectives and ownership of your professional development.\nBe Engaged & Committed: lean in to learn, engage, and contribute, resulting in increased performance and personal satisfaction from your work.\nBe Accountable: hold yourself responsible for achieving your goals and successfully executing against the organization's initiatives.\nOvercome Constraints: avoid letting perceived roadblocks limit your ability to solve problems, address challenges, and develop innovative solutions.\nLead & Develop: Coach, mentor and motivate team members to drive high levels of productivity and achievement.
