The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, developing, and maintaining complex SQL databases and solutions. The Senior SQL Developer will work closely with data analysts, application developers, and business stakeholders to ensure data integrity, optimize database performance, and support mission-critical applications. This role is supporting the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). PSPD supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP critical missions, specifically screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry (POEs) into the United States.\r\nThis position REQUIRES the candidate to be in Ashburn, VA, twice a week.\r\nKey Responsibilities\r\nDesign, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.\r\nOptimize and tune SQL queries for performance and scalability.\r\nDevelop and maintain ETL processes to support data integration and migration efforts.\r\nCollaborate with application developers and business analysts to gather requirements and deliver solutions.\r\nEnsure data integrity, security, and compliance with DHS and federal standards.\r\nTroubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.\r\nDocument database processes, structures, and procedures.\r\nParticipate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior developers.\r\nRequired Qualifications\r\nBS/BA degree and 8 years of related experience or Master's with 8 years of related experience; OR 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree\r\n5+ years of experience in SQL development in PostgreSQL and Oracle.\r\nMust be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start\r\nMust be a US citizen\r\nAdvanced proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.\r\nExperience supporting a highly performant, mission-critical production system.\r\nExperience with ETL tools and data integration processes.\r\nStrong understanding of database design, normalization, and indexing.\r\nExperience with data security and compliance requirements.\r\nExcellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\nExperience in a federal or government environment.\r\nExperience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).\r\nFamiliarity with reporting tools (e.g., SSRS, Power BI, Tableau).\r\nExperience with Agile development methodologies.\r\nExperience with CBP.\r\nCBP Full BI.\r\nPay Range\r\nPay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
