We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.\nJob Brief:\nThe EHS Specialist will support the EH&S team with the development, implementation, and administration of environment, health and safety policies and programs. They will help researchers and engineers maintain compliance with city and state regulations. They will learn and grow as they are exposed to new and interesting challenges. This role will work closely with the lab services and safety teams to ensure that Twelve is providing a safe place to work for all team members.\nThis is an on-site position based in our Berkeley, CA office.\nWhat you will do:\nBe a resource for code compliance, safe chemical handling, proper hazardous waste storage, disposal, and transportation\nAssist in the preparation and delivery of EHS training to all team members\nSupport management of the Hazardous waste and other environmental compliance programs\nManage implementation of a variety of occupational health and safety programs, including Chemical Hygiene, Injury & Illness Prevention and Emergency preparedness and response programs.\nLead incident and accident investigations\nBe the technical team’s point of contact for EHS concerns\nEvaluate PPE and other safety equipment to support new processes and equipment\nManage communication with local and state regulatory agencies regarding permitting compliance\nCollect, organize and maintain data and records for EHS permit compliance and reporting\nOther duties as assigned\nWho you are:\nYou have 3+ years of experience in an EHS role\nBachelor’s degree in safety, engineering, environmental science, or another related field\n5 or more years of related experience may be used to substitute the educational requirement\nYou are knowledgeable on federal, state and local regulations as well as environmental, health and safety best management practices\nYou have a background in chemical processing, refinery, laboratory, or similar industrial settings\nYou have strong written and verbal communication skills\nYou have the demonstrated ability to deliver results through strong planning, organizing and project or program implementation skills\nYou have the ability to influence others without direct authority\nYou are proficient with various types of EHS instrumentation (e.g. gas detectors, sound level meters, sampling pumps, anemometers,etc.)\nYou are a collaborative problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement\nPreferred Qualifications (any of these is a plus!)\nStartup experience\nR&D experience\nEnvironmental compliance and permitting expertise\nFire code and building code expertise\nElectrical safety expertise\nProcess safety expertise\nOSHA Outreach Trainer certification\nAdvanced HAZOP, PHA, or FMEA experience\nProficiency with tracking and analyzing EHS Metrics\nHolding or working towards professional certification(s) in EHS related fields are considered beneficial and may include CIH, CHMM, CPE, CSP, ASP, OHST, etc.\nTwelve Benefits\nMedical, dental, and vision coverage\nPaid sick days and vacation\nCompetitive salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience\nDiverse and inclusive work environment\n\nAt Twelve, it's important each employee is compensated competitively and fairly.
