**This position is 2nd shift with the hours of 2:30 p.m.- 11:00 p.m..
Position Overview
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the building and facilities by completing general office cleaning duties. This position will be responsible for vacuuming, mopping, emptying trash cans, cleaning and restocking bathrooms, and operating cleaning equipment when needed.
Essential Job Functions
Cleans and cares for building and facilities to ensure they are maintained in a safe and orderly manner
Maintains storage areas and cleaning equipment
Removes trash in accordance with established procedures
Cleans and disinfects restrooms, kitchen, and other facilities
Vacuums, spot cleans, and/or shampoos rugs, carpets, and furniture using commercial-type vacuum cleaners and shampooing equipment, as needed
Reports malfunction of fixtures within the building and damages found to furnishings to supervisor
Stocks area with appropriate supplies
Sweeps, mops, polishes, and strips floors
Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Typically requires 0-2 years of related experience
Certifications or Licenses
Valid Illinois Driver's License required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic ability to:
Communicate effectively in both oral and written form
Understand and follow instructions
Read or understand Material Safety Data Sheets, labels and instructions
Manage one’s own time and the time of others
Work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary
Basic knowledge of:
Cleaning techniques and procedures
Applicable safety requirements
Basic skill in:
The use of custodial materials and chemicals
