Direct Support Professional

Developmental Options is a private non-profit company serving the Pocatello area. Our Direct Support Workers work either in the Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF), sometimes referred to as a group home, or our Residential Habilitation (Res Hab) Department. Candidates will work with children and adults who need support with activities of daily living such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, grooming, self-administration of medication, behavioral supports and accessing the community. This varies by department, home, and client; some may need more support than others. Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, aging, or health challenges. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity. Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA privacy regulations. Administer medications following care plans and ensure proper medication storage and documentation. Support clients during meal preparation and cooking, ensuring nutritional needs are met while maintaining food safety standards. Implement written programming to identify safety concerns or behavioral changes, communicating promptly with treatment teams Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties in accordance with health standards in group homes or home care settings. Support the development and implementation of individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s unique needs and preferences. Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental well-being. Experience Prior experience working with the DD population preferred.
