The EHS Director for Distribution leads the development and implementation of behavior-based safety practices, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, and leads their team in conducting root-cause analysis of EHS incidents. The EHS Director for Distribution reports directly to the VP of EHS for Associated Materials.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Develop and execute the Distribution Division’s overall EHS strategy in line with the overall Associated Materials EHS Vision and Strategy and align safety objectives with business goals to enhance operational effectiveness.Provide strategic leadership and guidance to promote a safety-first EHS culture throughout the Distribution Division. Engage with executive leadership, managers and frontline employees to cultivate a shared commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement, integrating safety-first planning across all phases of work.Lead and inspire action in dynamic and rapidly changing business conditions; drive proactive change through effective communication and leadership.Develop and implement proactive measures to prevent accidents, injuries and occupational hazards through in-depth use of data analytics and reporting.Provide technical direction and guidance to managers and all facility-level staff regarding EHS compliance.Utilize robust KPIs and reporting metrics with leading and lagging indicators to proactively address risk factors and drive operational accountability throughout the Distribution Division.Lead cultural change to embrace new and improved EHS programs and policies within the Distribution Division.Drive robust incident reporting mechanisms, lead team in conducting thorough incident investigations, and identify causal factors and corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.Lead team in development of comprehensive risk assessments and hazard analyses programs and tools (e.g. bowtie analysis, strength of defenses matrices, ergonomics assessments, IH risk assessments, etc.) to identify potential safety hazards and mitigate associated risk. Implement risk control measures, safety protocols and engineering controls to minimize employee exposure to hazards.Lead, mentor, manage and grow professionally a team of EHS professionals within the Distribution Division and inspire and cultivate a high-performance culture that delivers exceptional safety results across all Distribution locations.Drive continuous improvement mindset. Provide thought leadership and inspire change at all levels in the organization with intensity and integrity. Remove barriers through effective problem solving and coordination with internal partners.Serve as key strategic partner for the VP of EHS and the EHS leadership team on overall strategy and direction of the Associated Materials EHS program.REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or other technically related field.10+ years of progressive experience in EHS roles, with at least five years leading field EHS for a business unit or multiple sites.Ability to travel up to 60% of the time throughout North America.PREFERRED EDUCTION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:Professional certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), preferred.Prior experience successfully building and leading teams and developing talent across an EHS organization of direct and matrixed leaders from multiple locations and cultures.Strategic thinker with creative and excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.Resilient self-starter who can operate autonomously and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment.Proven track record of delivering on commitments, and completing projects on-time, within budget and of high quality.Demonstrated ability to lead and influence EHS for a multi-site, geographically disperse business unit.Excellent data and analytical skills.Expert in US EPA, OSHA, state, local and Canadian regulations to ensure compliance.
