This OpportunityWSP is searching for a Part Time, Solid Waste (landfill) and Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) Engineering Technician to join our Civil, Ground Engineering & Materials team in Michigan. The preferred home office locations are Holland, Lansing, Bay City, or Novi.The successful candidate will conduct landfill and CCR CQA observation, monitoring, and testing services for earthen and geosynthetic containment systems for local and national energy, industrial, municipal and/or private containment facilities. Additional duties and responsibilities may include supporting environmental or geotechnical investigations and other field-related activities.Your ImpactField monitoring, testing, and sampling of soil and aggregate materialsUse of a nuclear gauge and drive cylinder for soil density testingGeosynthetics monitoring and testingGeneral construction observation and documentationInterpreting construction documents (construction drawings, technical specifications, and CQA Plans) to confirm projects are completed in accordance with approved plansInteraction with contractors and owners in a positive and constructive manner to resolve construction issuesGenerating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebookAssisting with other field activities as needed including but not limited to conducting field characterization (drilling), stormwater sampling, and groundwater samplingParticipating and contributing to daily safety meetingsLegal and safe vehicle operations on behalf of the companyMaintaining quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurement and documentationPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needsWho You AreRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)5+ years of related experienceGeosynthetics Certification Institute-Inspector Certification Program (GCI-ICP) certification for compacted soil liner and geosynthetics (or the ability to obtain certification)MDOT Construction Materials Testing - Soils or ability to obtain certificationMDOT Construction Materials Testing - Concrete or ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician-Grade I (or the ability to obtain certification)This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests.
