This is a highly collaborative and travel focused role, supporting academic partners across the country, the North America region, and internationally. You will regularly travel to universities, conferences, and training events to work directly with faculty and students.You will join a team that is passionate about enabling academics with High Performance and Adaptive Computing technologies. In this position you will work hands-on with our latest hardware and software, using innovative technologies to support and streamline our engineering and business processes while delivering an excellent experience to our academic customers.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Enabling the use of AI and High Performance Computing technologies in academia through regular on site engagement with universities and research institutions, based in the USA.Creating teaching materials, labs, design examples, demos, and application notes for use in on site and conference based trainingDelivering in person and remote technical training workshops to professors and graduate students at universities, conferences, and company hosted eventsCollaborating with faculty and students on research and teaching programsSupporting and representing the company at conferences, trade shows, and academic eventsSupporting academic customer queries and technical issuesContributing to the specification, evaluation, and development of systems for academic useTravel is a significant part of this role and may be approximately 25 to 50 percent, including domestic and occasional international travel.Preferred ExperienceExperience in Data Science, AI/ML infrastructure or applications development including programming GPUs with HIP/CUDA or AI frameworks, such as PyTorchFamiliarity with AMD High Performance Computing software and hardware development tools, and corresponding computer architecture conceptsExperience developing and delivering training coursesExperience with general software programming, development, and test processesExperience working in academic research/teaching setting, or alternatively, working as product, applications, or customer support engineerStrong oral and written communication, and excellent interpersonal skills: comfortable working with cross-functional, remote teamsStrong problem-solving skills, being a self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision and leading new initiativesDemonstrated willingness and ability to travel frequently for on site university visits, conferences, and training deliveryAn ideal candidate would also have:Experience with some/most/all of the following technologies:AI: LLM, PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAXProgramming Language: C/C++, PythonProgramming Model: HIP/ROCm/CUDA, MPI, OpenMP, BLASDevOps: Kubernetes, Slurm* Involvement with open-source community* Experience publishing and presenting technical papers at conferencesACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:* Master's degree, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Sciences, or related fields, or equivalent preferred.LOCATION: Austin, TX, USA (preferred), may be open to other AMD office locations in the USA.This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.#LI-MR1#LI-HybridBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
