You will work across multiple engineering and business units to meet overall initiative and/or product objectives.\n\nTHE PERSON:\n\nThe right candidate will have solid knowledge of technical program management, an outstanding track record of program managing a) sophisticated software development projects, b) methodology development and c) process improvement projects. This dynamic role will require a balance of technical and management aptitude along with soft skills. Must possess ability to coordinate and lead activities, influence process changes within peer teams, and have strong analytical skills. Out of box critical thinking and adeptness in simplifying for efficiency is a must. Data driven mindset is needed.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nDefines, plans and drives projects and program plans based on management and senior technical guidance\nScope technical feasibility of new Projects by clarifying and analyzing requirements with Architects, Technical Leads and Engineers\nDevelop program schedules by considering various dependencies, negotiate and create a staffing plan that supports the schedule\nBuilding, creating, and maintaining a well-developed, managed and executed program plan is critical\nYou will establish formal program management artifacts including a plan of record, project/program timelines, resource requirements, scope, performance, and quality KPIs\nExcellence in resource planning is necessary\nThe successful candidate must also plan for risks in the development path, identify prevention methods, and address them to save on engineering costs\nWorking effectively with stakeholders outside of the Central Methodology & Tools organization as well as external vendors to ensure deliverables are provided that meet or exceed requirements\nBeing comfortable working with senior executives is a hard requirement. You must address the needs and requirements called upon from AMD's Engineering and Business Unit organizations.\n\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:\nManaging strategic initiatives that might extend out over multiple quarters or years that have distinct phases and discrete deliverables over that time\nProven Technical/Program Management experience in a dynamic and competitive industry, particularly within Software Development or Engineering based organizations.\nExperience working in a high-pressure environment and competing priorities and tight turnaround times\nAnalytical, self-motivated, organized, detailed-oriented and results-oriented\nGood understanding of requirements management, documentation management, and defect management\nAbility to grasp concepts during discussions and turn minutes into action items\nAble to communicate concepts and processes with stakeholders\nExcellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with multiple people and teams, ability to communicate progress to team members on a regular basis\nEngineering background preferred\nExperience with Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence and Excel is an asset\nKeen sense of urgency and drive for results\nFamiliarity with front-end chip development, verification flows and/or CAD physical design flows a plus\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:\nBachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering\nPMP Certification is a plus, but not required\n\nLOCATION:\n\nAustin, TX; remote locations considered\n\n#LI-DD3\n\n#LI-REMOTE\nQualifications:\nAt AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.
