The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.Example of DutiesThe Lead Plan Reviewer for the Zoning and Land Use Plan Review Unit establishes priorities and directs daily workflow. Responsible for development, implementation and maintenance of a training program for the unit. Perform review of plans to assure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances for residential, commercial, industrial, and public use developments. Mentors and trains Land Use Reviewer in the application of Title 21. Requires a total of two years residential review of which one year includes commercial review for Title 21. Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control, code enforcement, and/or a related field and at least one (1) year of which must have been at the Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.ORAssociate’s degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, Computer Assisted Design (CAD), or a discipline specific to the department and five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control, and/or code enforcement and at least one (1) year of which must have been at the Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.ORBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, or a discipline specific to the department and three (3) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control, and/or code enforcement and at least one (1) year of which must have been at the Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.ORMaster’s degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, or a discipline specific to the department and at least one (1) year of experience as an Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or the equivalent elsewhere.All Applicants Must Possess And/or ObtainA satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.A valid State of Alaska driver's license and full driving record at time of hire.Additional Important InformationPreference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees.
