OverviewAn Excellent Opportunity to Join a World Class System!As part of the University of Florida, it is a hub for research and advanced medical trainingIt provides extensive specialized services, including cardiovascular services, and emergency careExcellent opportunity for growthJoin us today!ResponsibilitiesIn this role the Medical Laboratory Technician will perform the following job duties under the supervision of a licensed medical technologist, pathologist or Medical Director of a CLIA approved Laboratory:Use automated and manual equipment to examine and analyze cells, blood and bodily fluids.Collect and receive blood, tissue, urine and other body fluid samples from patients.Ensure samples are prepared, tested and resulted using manual or automated analyzers and computer system.ScheduleFTE: .10Hours: 8:00am-4:30pmDays: Monday-FridayQualificationsRequired Education:High School Diploma or GEDClinical/Medical laboratory technology programPreferred EducationBachelor's Degree with 3 years pertinent clinical laboratory experience; ORAssociate's degree with 4 years pertinent clinical laboratory experience AND one (1) year training in a Medical Technology CAHEA approved program.Necessary SkillsAbility to function as a medical laboratory technician in a moderate complexity laboratory. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing effectively with peers, co-workers and other clinic staffMust be able to pass a color vision test or functional color assessment test administered by Employee Health. Technologist must inform Laboratory Administration if vision capabilities change to the extent the technician can no longer perform test(s) accurately in work area.Knowledge of laboratory techniques, tests and procedures.Ability to perform procedures requiring judgment with minimal supervision.Ability to recognize abnormal results or testing problems and discuss with Technologist, Supervisor, Manager, Physician or Medical Director. Ability to solve problems. Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to recognize and effectuate repairs of malfunctioning equipment.Ability to provide instruction and communicate to medical, para-medical or lay individuals.Ability to prioritize tasks and organize workflow.Good decision-making skills. Detailed-oriented.Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.Required Licensure/Certification(s)State of Florida technician license - MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT) or MLT (AAB) in Hematology and Chemistry requiredOther subspecialties in addition to Hematology and Chemistry preferredPreferred Licensure/Certification(s)ASCP, AMT or AAB National certificationRequired Experience: 3-5 Years of Clinical/medical laboratory
