This role manages network hardware and services, including routers, switches, wireless systems, firewalls, virtual environments, domain services, backup solutions, and disaster recovery systems. The Network Engineer monitors network performance, troubleshoots complex technical issues, and ensures the reliability, availability, and security of all network resources across multiple locations. The Network Engineer develops and implements plans to support current and future technology needs, while maintaining compliance with organizational and security standards. This role assists in the development and enforcement of information security policies, procedures, and best practices, helping to protect organizational data and systems. Additionally, the Network Engineer provides technical recommendations, maintains system documentation, and collaborates with the Director of IT Operations to improve infrastructure performance, strengthen cybersecurity, and support organizational goals through innovative and reliable technology solutions.\nJob Responsibilities:\nInstall, configure, and support the Organization’s local area network, wide area network, and Internet system.\nConfigures and implements network hardware, software and network communication gateways to other computing environments.\nInvestigate, diagnose, and resolve complex network, connectivity, and infrastructure issues in a timely manner.\nImplements and supports network security controls in alignment with organizational policies and industry standards.\nAssists in maintaining secure access controls, network segmentation, and data protection measures.\nMaintain Technical Security: Set the access and authorization controls for everyday operations as well as emergencyprocedures for data.\nImplements and maintains transmission security controls, including access control mechanisms, audit trails, event reporting, encryption standards, and data integrity protections.\nMonitors network performance and availability, proactively identifying and addressing issues.\nResponds to network incidents and service disruptions, documenting root cause and resolution.\nImplements network changes in accordance with established change management processes.\nWorks with IT leadership and vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to support network solutions and services.\nMonitors and supports effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems.\nMaintains up-to-date network diagrams, configurations, and operational documentation.\nSupports audit and compliance efforts by maintaining documentation and providing requested system information.\nProvides technical assistance to network operations and staff.\nConduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.\nCreate and maintain disaster recovery and emergency operation procedures and risk tolerances for the network.\nResponsible for demonstrating sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural/socioeconomic differences in the organization/program service population.\nOther duties as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience required.\nMust have a working knowledge of LANs, WANs, Microsoft Server Systems, SQL, Cisco networking and VPNs.\nNetwork security experience.
