DescriptionTaft Junior College was established on August 30, 1922 as part of the Taft Union High School District. Classes were first held on the high school campus. The school title officially became Taft College on July 1, 1954, and in September of 1956 a separate campus opened in the current location at 29 Cougar Court adjacent to the high school. The West Kern Community College District was later formed, and is a single-college-district under the guidance of a five-member Board of Trustees. With strong leadership, Taft College offers a robust academic program for its students, and is one of the finest small colleges around!The student support and outreach worker work closely with student life and basic needs. They serve the campus in a broad capacity, assisting and supporting programs that directly impact student success. The student support and outreach worker directly support the Cougar Support Center, Student Center, and the food pantries located across the campus.Work Study Responsibilities:Managing all gaming equipment in the gaming areaMaintain cleanliness of student officesMaintain the snack pantry in the student centerHelp set-up and clean up all student eventsCoordinate and assist with outreach efforts for support servicesAttend job related training and committee meetingsAssist with student case filesOrganize peer-to-peer support groupsFront desk support in the Student Center and/or Cougar Support CenterClerical work as directedOrganize and manage food and clothing pantryServe students requesting items out of the cougar support center and student centerStay up-to-date on new legislation and mandates associated with support servicesAssist with data collectionRequirements:Currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 units, in good standing, with Taft College.Students must remain enrolled and in good standing during employment.Basic knowledgeOutlookGoogle documents and formsBannerCanvaBoard policies and proceduresStudent Code of ConductMandated reportingTaft College Financial AidStudent LifeTC EOPSCalFreshVeteran's AffairTC Mental Health ServicesCommunity Support ProgramsRequirementsRequirements:Currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 units, in good standing, with Taft College.Student must remain enrolled and in good standing during employment.Basic knowledge of software such as Outlook, Canva, Banner, Google documents and forms.
