You will be working on a team of engineers with a broad range of skills to develop new products, modernize existing systems, and support our customers using new and traditional technologies, such as MS SQL, SQL Server, AWS/cloud and programming languages such as Java, C#/.NET or Python.\n\nYour Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain software systems using programming languages such as Java, C#/.NET, Python, or similar technologies.\nLead the SQL installation, configuration, design, and testing of production-focused databases, supporting all data-related activities. Identify user requirements, set up database structures, test, and coordinate modifications to these systems.\nLead migration of reports from SSRS to PowerBI or similar SAAS platform.\nCreate and maintain data loads from external clients via Talend (ETL) and manipulate data via a strong knowledge of ETL and SQL stored procedures.\nPerform complex \"ad hoc\" queries, data assembly, and reporting functions for delivery to internal and external teams.\nImplement database performance monitoring, mapping of conceptual designs, refining logical designs, data modeling, maintaining data standards and protection (encryption), writing database documentation (standards, procedures, definitions), defining access control and permissions, managing backup and recovery paths, and participating in capacity planning.\nProvide ongoing maintenance of all organizational production and administrative data sources to ensure data integrity and database security. Troubleshoot database errors, indexing, speed, or other concerns. Coordinate with the Technology and Lead Developer to ensure all data storage and retrieval capabilities are properly supported and maintained within our IT infrastructure.\nProduce and maintain database documentation (e.g., data dictionary, Entity Relationship Diagrams) as required for proper system maintenance and system enhancements.\nLead the discovery, mock-up, creation, testing, scheduling, and ongoing revision of SQL/SSRS-based business reports.\nMaintain multiple SQL server instances including SQL and OS versions, compatibility, and upgrades, working with external vendors to ensure functionality, etc.\nCoordinate closely with team members, product owners, and scrum masters to ensure user-story alignment and development per business requirements.\nContinue to develop personal field of knowledge in database and related technologies by attending conferences, prototyping new technologies, and exploring new areas of interest.\nWork across departments to design and deliver solutions from inception to production.\nBuild subject-matter expertise of our core back-end financial processes.\nProvide support and troubleshooting capabilities to our production systems, as needed, to remediate unexpected issues and outages.\nDevelop and evangelize best practices in line with current trends and technologies, with consideration for our existing policies and procedures.\nLeverage Atlassian tool suite, including JIRA and Confluence, to track activities and progress.\nChampion new technology and innovation, while keeping existing systems up-to-date and secure.\nRequired Experience, Skills, and Qualifications\nExperience with artificial intelligence (AI) tools to optimize workflows, problem-solving, and productivity.\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or relevant field.\n5 plus years of experience, strong proficiency, and hands-on expertise in PL/SQL, including stored procedures, views, and functions.\n3 plus years of experience, strong proficiency, and hands-on expertise with AWS, and related technologies.\nExperience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) from conception through end of life.\nKnowledge of value code quality and best practices.\nExperience with version control system (e.g., Git).\nExperience with an issue/problem-tracking system (e.g., Jira).\nHigh motivation to deliver a quality product on time, every time.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and handle rapidly changing work requirements and priorities.\nAbility to consistently use team project and collaboration software tools including Jira, MS Teams, etc.\nStrong organizational skills.\nAbility to work independently against project milestones to achieve objectives with minimal supervision.\nExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask within tight deadlines.\nDrive to investigate new technologies and the ability to articulate concepts and designs.\nExcellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills to explain complex topics concisely to both technical and nontechnical audiences.\nExcellent mathematical skills.\nComprehensive knowledge of database administration and development.\nComprehensive knowledge of data analysis, modeling, and database design techniques.\nSkill in performing complex and specialized database functions.\nComprehensive knowledge of structured query language (SQL), SSRS, ETL, and report-writing.\nStrong experience with reporting tools (SQL, SSRS, BI, etc.).\nComfort with both on-prem and cloud-based SQL deployments.\nComprehensive knowledge in stored procedures; SQL scripts, database security, backups, and recovery.\nComprehensive experience using SQL Server Management Studio and related SQL tools (RedGate, etc.).\nExperience with Coldfusion, .Net or java technologies for application development.\nCloud technologies experience is must – AWS, Azure or similar.\nExperience with EFT technologies\nSkill in evaluating changes in the production environment and anticipating resources needed to meet those changes.\nExperience with high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.\nExperience with Agile Development tools, such as Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence.\nExperience developing software applications using programming languages such as Java, C#/.NET, or Python is a plus.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in financial applications.\nKnowledge of accounting.\nCertifications in Java, C#/.NET, Python etc.\nKnowledge of CI/CD tools, such as Jenkins, SonarQube, and Junit.\nExperience with Cloud formation (yaml) and similar languages.\nThis position is a hybrid role where the employee must work two full days per week in our office in Arlington, Virginia.
