This role requires a minimum of 5 years of Flight Management Systems experience, hands‐on work in integrated avionics lab environments, and strong familiarity with civil aviation standards and regulations. The engineer will play a key role in system issue investigation, validation of fixes, and ensuring compliance with commercial certification requirements. Key Responsibilities FMS & NGFMS Development · Support requirements definition, analysis, and validation for Flight Management Systems, with NGFMS experience preferred · Contribute to development and enhancement of: o Lateral and vertical flight planning o Performance‐Based Navigation (RNAV, RNP) o Trajectory management and optimization functions · Analyze FMS behavior, system interactions, and operational impacts of design changes Integrated Lab & Test Environment Support · Work extensively in integrated avionics lab environments (SIL, HIL, Iron Bird, or equivalent) · Investigate and troubleshoot system‐level issues involving FMS, navigation sensors, autoflight systems, and cockpit displays · Perform root‐cause analysis, defect reproduction, and verification of corrective fixes · Support integration, regression, and qualification testing Requirements, Verification & Validation · Develop and manage system requirements with traceability to aircraft‐level and regulatory requirements · Support verification and validation activities in lab, simulator, and aircraft environments · Ensure compliance with approved development, verification, and configuration management processes Standards, Safety & Certification · Apply knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements to system development and testing · Support safety and certification activities in accordance with: o ARP4754A/B and ARP4761 o DO‐178C (software considerations) o DO‐229, DO‐260, DO‐200 series (as applicable) o FAA and EASA navigation and operational guidance · Support certification reviews, audits, and issue resolution Cross‐Functional Collaboration · Collaborate with software, hardware, safety, flight test, and human factors teams · Support technical reviews, issue resolution boards, and certification activities · Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers Required Qualifications Education · Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline Experience & Skills · Minimum 5 years of experience with Flight Management Systems in a commercial aviation environment · NGFMS experience strongly preferred · Proven experience working in integrated avionics lab environments for issue investigation and testing · Familiarity with civil aviation standards, regulations, and certification processes · Strong analytical, problem‐solving, and technical documentation skills Preferred Qualifications · Experience on FAR/CS‐25 (Part 25) transport aircraft programs · Participation in FAA and/or EASA certification programs · Exposure to airline operational use cases and flight simulator environments · Scripting or analysis experience (Python, MATLAB) to support testing and investigations Eligibility & Security Requirements · This position is limited to U.S. Citizens or U.S. Persons only, due to access to regulated technical data · Must be eligible to work with ITAR/EAR‐controlled data and comply with U.S. export control regulations","company":"Aroha Technologies","rawCompany":"aroha technologies","city":"Phoenix","state":"AZ","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-04-17T01:12:01.594Z","occupations":[{"code":"17-2011.00","title":"Aerospace Engineers","slug":"aerospace-engineers"},{"code":"15-1299.08","title":"Computer Systems Engineers/Architects","slug":"computer-systems-engineers-architects"},{"code":"49-2091.00","title":"Avionics Technicians","slug":"avionics-technicians"}],"industries":[{"code":"488190","title":"Other Support Activities for Air Transportation","slug":"other-support-activities-for-air-transportation"},{"code":"336411","title":"Aircraft Manufacturing","slug":"aircraft-manufacturing"},{"code":"334511","title":"Search, Detection, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing","slug":"search-detection-navigation-guidance-aeronautical-and-nautical-system-and-instrument-manufacturing"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"FMS Systems Engineers","description":"Job Title: FMS Systems Engineers for (Next Generation Flight Management System (NGFMS) Systems Engineer – Commercial Avionics) Location: Phoenix AZ (Onsite) Job Title Next Generation Flight Management System (NGFMS) Systems Engineer – Commercial Avionics Job Summary The NGFMS Systems Engineer will support the development, integration, investigation, and certification of Next Generation Flight Management Systems (NGFMS) for commercial aircraft.
