The selected candidate will oversee the monthly close, financial reporting, cost and inventory accounting, compliance, internal controls, and accounting team development.\n\nThe ideal candidate should have strong *U.S. GAAP, manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and accounting leadership* experience.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n*Accounting Operations & Financial Close*\n\n* Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.\n* Manage journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, consolidations, and variance analysis.\n* Maintain accurate books and records in accordance with U.S. GAAP.\n* Establish and maintain an efficient close calendar.\n* Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and General Ledger activities.\n\n*Financial Reporting & Planning*\n\n* Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.\n* Prepare cash-flow forecasts and operating analyses.\n* Partner with the CFO on annual budgeting and periodic forecasting.\n* Support working-capital planning and financial performance analysis.\n* Translate financial results into meaningful business insights and recommendations.\n\n*Manufacturing, Cost & Inventory Accounting*\n\n* Manage product costing and standard costing.\n* Analyze purchase-price and manufacturing variances.\n* Manage overhead allocations and gross-margin analysis.\n* Partner with Operations and Production teams on inventory controls.\n* Oversee cycle counts, physical inventory procedures, inventory reserves, and reconciliations.\n* Identify opportunities for cost savings and margin improvement.\n\n*Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit*\n\n* Design, document, and maintain effective internal controls.\n* Establish accounting policies and approval workflows.\n* Maintain appropriate segregation of duties.\n* Work closely with external accounting firms and auditors.\n* Coordinate annual financial statement audits and prepare supporting schedules/documentation.\n* Coordinate tax filings, insurance reviews, banking requirements, and external advisors.\n* Ensure compliance with accounting, tax, payroll, and regulatory requirements.\n\n*Systems, Process Improvement & Leadership*\n\n* Lead, coach, and develop a small accounting/finance team.\n* Improve accounting workflows, reporting processes, and data integrity.\n* Identify opportunities to improve processes through technology and automation.\n* Support ERP/MRP implementation, migration, optimization, or integration initiatives.\n* Serve as the finance/accounting owner for system controls and reporting.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\n* *7+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.*\n* Strong experience managing financial close and financial reporting.\n* Strong knowledge of *U.S. GAAP*.\n* Experience with financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and account reconciliations.\n* Experience in *manufacturing, medical products, consumer products, or another inventory-intensive environment.*\n* Strong experience with *cost accounting and inventory accounting*.\n* Experience with product costing, standard costs, manufacturing variances, and gross-margin analysis is highly preferred.\n* Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing accounting/finance professionals.\n* Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.\n* Advanced *Microsoft Excel* skills.\n* Experience working with external auditors, tax professionals, banks, and business consultants.\n* Experience overseeing or supporting payroll processes.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n* *CPA or CMA certification* is preferred.\n* Hands-on experience with *NetSuite* or a comparable ERP system.\n* Experience with ERP/MRP implementation, migration, or optimization.\n* Experience with EDI integrations.\n* Retail accounting experience, including deductions, reconciliations, adjustments, and chargebacks.\n\nIdeal Candidate Background\n\nThe ideal candidate would typically have experience as a:\n\n* Controller\n* Financial Controller\n* Corporate Controller\n* Manufacturing Controller\n* Plant Controller\n* Assistant Controller\n* Accounting Manager\n* Senior Accounting Manager\n* Director of Accounting\n* Director of Finance & Accounting\n* Cost Accounting Manager\n\nCandidates with strong *manufacturing + cost accounting + inventory accounting + Controller-level experience* will be given strong consideration.\n\nContract-to-Hire Structure\n\nThe selected candidate will initially join as an *independent 1099 consultant for approximately 2–3 months*.
