This position will require the installation of low voltage and fiber optic cable systems.\n\nSDL supports a variety of missions, including NASA's vision to reveal the unknown for the benefit of humankind and the Department of War's aim to protect our Nation on the ground, in the air, and in space. Join our team in our seventh decade of delivering mission success.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nPerforms the technical responsibilities of a Low Voltage Cable Installer and function as a member of a technical team\n\nPerforms overhead and underground layout of pathways and rough in\n\nTerminates all types of copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair, and Cat 5e thru 6a\n\nAssembles and installs equipment racks and network cabinets with all associated components\n\nPerforms fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types\n\nPerforms structured cabling installations in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints\n\na plus\n\nUnderstands and effectively explains every aspect of the structured cabling system including pathways, spaces, horizontal cabling, backbone copper, backbone fiber optic, cross and inter-connections, and testing\n\nTroubleshoots, repairs, adjusts, and resolves problems in structured cabling systems and technical issues\n\nPerforms other duties as needed\n\nFollows industry and company best practices\n\nSafely uses ladders and bucket lifts as needed\n\nRequired Qualifications:\n\nHigh school graduate\n\nMinimum of 2 years’ experience installing low voltage cabling and fiber optic systems\n\nUnderstanding and ability to implement structured cabling best practices\n\nWilling to periodically perform system maintenance outside of core hours\n\nAble to work independently and as part of a team\n\nWorking knowledge of Fluke OTDR, DSX, and other testing tools\n\nStrong work ethic, ability to focus on results, and demonstrated reliability in following through on commitments and assignments\n\nStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills\n\nUse of a computer running windows and software to include Visio, Bluebeam, PDF, Excel and Word\n\nWork Environment and Physical Requirements:\n\nMust be able to perform physical activities which require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving entire body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stopping, and handling of materials\n\nMust be able to spend substantial time standing\n\nAbility to utilize visual acuity or reasonable accommodation and finger dexterity to work with small parts\n\nAble to lift up to 50 lbs\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nExperience in access controls, CCTV, intercoms, and other low-voltage applications\n\nIndividuals possessing current BICSI certifications including INSTI, INSTC, INSTF, or TECH\n\nState of Utah Low Voltage certification/license\n\nUnderstanding of wireless 802.11 and DAS systems\n\nSome networking knowledge is a plus, to include Cisco, Dell, Juniper\n\nWorking well under pressure (i.e. a critical system is down)\n\nDemonstrate professionalism and courtesy in all interactions\n\nBICSI certified\n\n*Salary Range\n\n$42,000 - $65,000\n\nSalary commensurate based on education and experience\n\nThis range serves as a general guideline and may vary based on factors such as role, level, location, market conditions, and individual qualifications, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
