The position can be remote but must be open to extensive travel.Hotels rental cars and flights will be from the client, $50 per diem for meals will be provided, some out of pocket expenses like fuels will be submitted as expense and reimbursedDay to Day:Traveling on Monday and will be working in the field for 2 weeks doing fiber characterization work and be back on the Friday of 2nd weekMainly will be doing fiber testingMUST HAVES:Extensive experience using OTDR3-5 years of experienceTelecom experienceRequired ExperienceKnowledge:Organizational competenceStrong experience analyzing OTDR traces, OIL data and CD/PMD data.Able to describe the details and structure of ISP and OSP Fiber NetworksFusion splicing using industry standard equipmentUnderstanding of various fiber typesCommunication:High level analytical skillsEffectively present to team meetings both written and orallyIdentify issues and enact resolutions effectivelyAssist in fiber issue resolutionMulti-task effectively and maintain project deadlinesInterface with vendors and develop issue remediation protocolsGeneral Experience:Minimum 3 years experience within a Telecom Network Infrastructure environmentAble to use any generic office software.Familiarity with EXFO Toolbox used in the analysis of fiber test data or similar software applicationsExperience with understanding vendor contractual deliverablesMinimum of two years in a project management or project support capacity directing field resources an assetAdditional languages a definite assetSummaryCandidates will be responsible for testing the end-to-end of connectivity of optical fiber paths using multiple testing apparatus (OTDR, CD/PMD, Optical Insertion Loss measurements and fiber end-face validation) and performing basic site surveyThis involves:Maintaining Project SchedulesPerforming fiber characterization tests using OTDR, CD/PMD, power meter/laser source and fiber end face testing using industry standard test equipmentSplicing or re-splicing of problematic fiber strands using industry standard fusion splicersFiber end face cleaning using multiple methodsProviding field analysis on Vendor's fiber network from test dataPreparing testing packages including:Redlining of project documentation including fiber path and demarcation pointsProvide test reports as dictated by vendor requirementsManaging project field documentationInterfacing with vendors to provide remediation to fiber path issuesPerforming site surveys to validate vendor infrastructure deliverables including any issues (not limited to):Fiber typePoints of failureDiversity requirementsFramework and support infrastructure (racks, fiber protection, grounding etc.)Applicants must provide their phone number.
