Approves and modifies network design and architecture to ensure compliance.\r\nDevelops strategies for network systems solutions using current and emerging technologies. Translates business requirements into network or process designs.\r\nPlans and recommends network hardware, system management software and architecture.\r\nMonitors network performance, ensures capacity planning is performed, and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvement.\r\nThoroughly defines and documents network standards, policies, and procedures.\r\nPerforms troubleshooting procedures and designs resolution scripts.\r\nProvides senior-level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise's overall systems architecture.\r\nFacilitates the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions across enterprise-wide hardware and software applications.\r\nProvides technical guidance to project teams as appropriate.\r\nConfigures and maintains routers, switches, firewalls and remote access for the network systems.\r\nRecommends network security procedures and policies.\r\nProvides cross-training and mentoring to other staff members.\r\nProvides appropriate levels of support for all aligned functions, per the IT Accountability matrix.\r\nDatacenter Infrastructure\r\nProvides assistance with the implementation and support of all datacenter functions including servers (physical and virtual), storage and archiving, Exchange, mobility, and system backups and replication.\r\nPromotes the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions across enterprise-wide hardware and software applications.\r\nProvides technical guidance to project teams as appropriate.\r\nHelps to evaluate new products, maintains knowledge of emerging technologies for application to the enterprise. Provides technical consulting to management that may result in the selection, installation and support of enterprise-wide systems.\r\nEvaluates technology options to ensure selected solutions are cost effective and produce a recognizable return on investment.\r\nParticipates in enterprise-wide disaster recovery planning and implementation. Ensures the plan is communicated to appropriate personnel.\r\nAssists with preparation of annual estimate for AFE of datacenter equipment and strategic planning.\r\nProvides appropriate levels of support for all aligned functions, per the IT Accountability matrix. Assists plant IT with data center and networking needs as required.\r\nPerforms complex deployment or maintenance procedures as well as repair work on Local Area Networks (LANs), communications, and related hardware and software (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers)\r\nInternal Controls\r\nUnderstands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.\r\nSuccessful incumbents will have\r\nBachelor's Degree in Math or Computer Science or technical training equivalent and graduate-level coursework\r\nMinimum of eight plus years of network support and systems-level programming\r\nCisco Certified Engineer strongly preferred\r\nExperience with EMC storage arrays, Symantec eVault, XenMobile, Active Directory preferred\r\nCapable of troubleshooting all aspects of Local Area Network and Data Communications problems\r\nCustomer service oriented\r\nExcellent communication and analytical skills\r\nQualifications\r\ncisco network architecture/senior engineer (over 10 years' experience)\r\nLAN/Data communications\r\nData Center/Storage/Virtualization - any additional systems engineering background\r\nAdditional Information\r\nPosition Scope/Contribution\r\nTop-level technical expert in one or more highly specialized phases of network and software systems programming; may act as an internal consultant providing technical guidance on the most complex projects. Regularly operates under deadlines and may be subject to extreme workloads.\r\nActs independently or with very general direction. Errors may cause significant disruption to significant business operations or major equipment costs.
