This includes scanner operation, post-processing stations, IV contrast injectors, oxygen and suction equipment, patient transport, and patient monitoring equipment.\r\nEssential Functions\r\nExamines requests, verifies orders, and questions them with the radiologist before performing exams. Contacts the ordering provider when discrepancies arise.\r\nProperly identifies patients using two patient identifiers, offers brief explanations of procedures, prepares patients, and documents in appropriate worksheets.\r\nConducts patient interviews to obtain complete medical history, reviews EMRs (in-patients, ER, outpatients), records history on requisitions, and correlates other test results with the exam.\r\nAssumes responsibility for exams from initiation to completion of dictated results.\r\nPrepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols, recording contrast type and amount when requested.\r\nEvaluates technical image quality and consults with a radiologist if needed, recognizes abnormal anatomy, and processes additional reconstructed images or measurements as instructed.\r\nPerforms basic patient care functions, informs nursing staff of changes in patient condition, initiates life support measures when necessary, and assists in code blue procedures during emergencies.\r\nPerforms CT scanning and assists radiologist/PA during invasive procedures, practicing sterile technique and following infection-control policies.\r\nIs authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner.\r\nPractices radiation safety for self, employees, patients, and family members, following appropriate safety standards.\r\nReports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer.\r\nMaintains knowledge of bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease precautions.\r\nAdheres to hospital fire and safety procedures, attends all in-service classes, and completes all required safety modules.\r\nWorks accurately and timely during crisis and emergency situations, rotates shifts as required, and adheres to attendance policy.\r\nOperates radiology computer system, enters orders, charges procedures/supplies, and documents contrast administration in the MAR.\r\nMaintains a neat and orderly work area, keeps supplies stocked, and cleans work areas to promote cleanliness.\r\nAssists other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, during exams or services combining CT imaging.\r\nQualifications\r\nBLS certification.\r\nARRT (R) or ARRT (R)(CT) certification.\r\nComfortable working independently.\r\nMinimum 1 year of specialty experience; ED experience highly preferred.\r\nProficiency in scanning code strokes (when applicable).\r\nPhysical Requirements\r\nRequires moderate to heavy physical effort in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation. Frequently may need to stretch, bend, twist, squat or kneel.
