They act as the liaison between customers (OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers), engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams.\nKey Responsibilities\nProgram Management & Launch\nLead cross-functional teams through the entire product lifecycle (concept to SOP – Start of Production).\nDevelop and manage program timelines, budgets, and deliverables.\nCoordinate tooling, fabrication, and assembly readiness with engineering and operations teams.\nConduct design and process reviews to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.\nCustomer Interface\nServe as the main point of contact for customer communication on program scope, schedule, and performance.\nManage customer requirements, engineering changes (ECRs/ECOs), and product validations.\nOperational Coordination\nOversee fabrication schedules, resource allocation, and material readiness.\nSupport process optimization, lean manufacturing initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.\nFinancial Management\nTrack program costs, profitability, and capital expenditures (CAPEX).\nPrepare financial forecasts, quote packages, and cost breakdowns.\nQuality & Compliance\nEnsure adherence to automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, etc.).\nCoordinate corrective actions and lessons learned across programs.\nRequired Skills & Competencies\nStrong project/program management skills (often PMP or similar certification preferred).\nDeep understanding of metal fabrication, welding, stamping, or assembly processes.\nExperience with automotive manufacturing systems and customer portals (GM, Ford, Stellantis, Toyota, etc.).\nProficiency with project management software (MS Project, Excel, ERP systems).\nExcellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.\nPerformance Metrics (KPIs)\nOn-Time Launch (OTL)\nProgram Profitability / Cost Variance\nCustomer Satisfaction / Scorecards\nScrap & Rework Rates during launch\nEngineering Change Response Time\nAPQP/PPAP Timing Compliance\nNote: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
