Fleet SupervisorThe City of Peoria is seeking an experienced and motivated Fleet Supervisor to join our Fleet Services team. This position plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily fleet maintenance operations, supporting technicians and staff, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective repair and operation of the City's fleet assets.The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of fleet maintenance operations, and the ability to effectively coordinate staff, vendors, equipment purchases, and repair processes in a fast-paced municipal environment.The OpportunityAs a Fleet Supervisor, you will supervise fleet maintenance personnel and coordinate the repair, maintenance, and lifecycle management of the City's automotive and equipment fleet. This position is responsible for managing workflow, supporting technicians, coordinating outside repairs and warranty work, overseeing vehicle replacement and disposal processes, and assisting with budget planning and operational improvements.This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who values teamwork, accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement.Essential FunctionsThe following duties are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this classification. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.Fleet Operations & Staff SupervisionPlans, prioritizes, assigns, and supervises daily fleet maintenance activities.Provides leadership, training, coaching, and performance management for staff.Ensures compliance with City policies, safety standards, and departmental procedures.Monitors workflow, shop productivity, and operational efficiency.Fleet Repair Process ManagementOversees repair and maintenance operations for automotive and heavy equipment assets.Interacts with customers and departments regarding vehicle and equipment concerns.Manages work order processes and assists technicians with troubleshooting and repair decisions.Develops and implements repair policies, procedures, and best practices.Coordinates contracted services, warranty repairs, and vendor-supported repairs.Administrative & Project SupportAssists with divisional budget preparation and expenditure monitoring.Prepares reports, evaluations, and operational documentation.Participates in committees, projects, and process improvement initiatives.Assists with hiring activities, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.Preferred QualificationsPrevious supervisory or lead experience.Experience in a municipal or government fleet environment.Experience with fleet management software systems.ASE certifications or related industry certifications are desirable.Experience managing parts inventory, procurement, and supply operations.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of fleet maintenance operations, repair practices, and equipment management.Knowledge of safety regulations and shop safety procedures.Ability to supervise staff and manage multiple priorities effectively.Strong customer service and communication skills.Ability to analyze operational needs and recommend process improvements.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors, and City departments.
