Climbing Wall Attendant Join the City of Durango as a Climbing Wall Attendant at the Durango Community Recreation Center. You'll play an important role in daily operations—monitoring safety, assisting participants, and helping the recreation center run smoothly. The full details of this vision are outlined in the city's strategic plan.We're looking for team members who share our core values of teamwork, dependability, professionalism, service, respect, innovation, and wellbeing — and who are excited to make a difference in the community we serve.What You'll Do in This Role:Prepare the climbing wall for daily use, including setting up and organizing equipmentInspect climbing equipment and the wall area to ensure a safe environment for all usersMonitor the climbing wall to promote safe use and appropriate behaviorBelay climbers and provide support to participants of varying skill levelsRespond to incidents and complete required reports accurately and promptlyMaintain a clean and organized climbing area, including end-of-day cleanupCommunicate clearly with participants, staff, and visitorsTrack and submit accurate time workedSupport general recreation center operations, assisting in other areas as neededYou Have:Climbing Wall Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)Basic knowledge of climbing wall operations and safety practices (preferred)Experience with climbing or indoor climbing walls (preferred)You Will Succeed in This Role If You:Prioritize safety and stay attentive in an active environmentCommunicate clearly and confidently with a wide range of participantsBuild positive, respectful relationships with coworkers and the publicStay organized and follow through on tasks and responsibilitiesAre comfortable staying active, including standing, moving, and assisting participants throughout your shiftWhat We Can Offer You:Free pass to the Durango Community Recreation Center and Chapman Hill Ice Rink and Ski AreaFree Transit passEligibility to participate in the City's Annual Wellness Challenge and a chance to receive prizes and cash rewardsWe believe in creating an inclusive workforce that welcomes diversity of thoughts, viewpoints, and experiences.
