We are seeking an adaptable Forward Deployed Engineer to collaborate closely with strategic partners and create Generative AI Agents and plugins, utilizing the Ask Sage platform. The Forward Deployed Engineer partners with our customers to deliver on strategic enhancements for our valued clients. The ideal candidate will be able to harness their expertise in prompt engineering, robust AI frameworks, and secure coding practices to deliver innovative solutions for our customers. This role is embedded with the customer to synchronize on design, prototyping, and full‑scale deployment, and may require the candidate to work on site at a customer location.\n\nWhat you will do\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nConduct research and work closely with key decision‑makers to understand customer business processes to identify areas where Ask Sage can add value and provide in‑depth training to end users.\n\nAssist customers with all Generative AI issues, offering hands‑on support from concept through deployment to deliver practical solutions that address complex customer challenges.\n\nArchitect, develop, and maintain Generative AI Agents and plugins using Python and related frameworks.\n\nEmbed with customers to provide technical leadership and solutions, driving success from initial concept to production deployment.\n\nBuild innovative Generative AI features to help Ask Sage customers automate tasks and processes, developing innovative full‑stack solutions within Ask Sage.\n\nDevelop strong relationships with our customers and their leadership to maximize the value and efficiency of their applications.\n\nImplement best practices for code quality, security (to include strong knowledge of common vulnerabilities), and performance optimization.\n\nWrite clean, efficient, and maintainable code with a focus on security and data privacy.\n\nStay up‑to‑date with the latest trends and advancements in Python development, Generative AI, and relevant technologies.\n\nCollaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate Generative AI solutions into existing systems that meet and exceed customer expectations.\n\nWhat you need to have\n\nMinimum of 2‑5 years of relevant software engineering experience, including but not limited to Python (customer‑facing experience strongly preferred).\n\nClearance: Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.\n\nAt least 1 year of practical experience leveraging Generative AI to build automation and agents; while no specific degree is required, a deep understanding of the required technical areas is essential.\n\nStrong prompt engineering skills and experience with Generative AI frameworks, along with expertise in delivering secure solutions on leading cloud infrastructures.\n\nAbility to identify innovative ways to enhance customer impact by using Ask Sage, and to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.\n\nStrong project management skills to own project execution from start to finish and adapt to meet customer needs.\n\nMust work from the customer location on an as‑needed basis, with a willingness to travel to meet customer objectives.\n\nWhat we'd like you to have\n\nExperience with retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG).\n\nExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.\n\nKnowledge of government compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST AI RMF, CMMC 2.0).\n\nAbout BigBear.ai\nBigBear.ai is a leading provider of AI‑powered decision intelligence solutions for national security, supply chain management, and digital identity.
