Perform general custodialduties, e.g., empty trash, vacuum carpet, sweep and mop. Assist in cleaning, maintaining and daily operation of the school building.NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importanceEssential FunctionsEnsure safety of studentsSweep, vacuum, mop and wax floorsEmpty and clean waste receptacles, trash pails, and pencil sharpenersRemove cobwebs and clean windowsPolish furniture and woodworkClean and maintain custodial equipment and materialsTransport all necessary school maintenance and custodial suppliesPromote good safety practices and proceduresClean and sanitize assigned school, e.g., restrooms, classrooms, spills, etc.Help with setup and cleanup for various school activitiesUse, measure and relabel chemicalsClean carpetsWash all furniture, walls, halls, windows, window seals, and doorsDisinfect water fountainsSpot mop and mop classroomsRemove writing on wallsMake contacts with the public with tact and diplomacyMaintain respect at all times for confidential informationInteract in a positive manner with staff, students and parentsDispose of debris and maintain equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly mannerReport any damaged, broken, loose fixtures and/or equipmentAdjust to various locations and work requirements as needed, perform other duties as assigned by the Buildings and Grounds SupervisorPerform minor repairs, including, but not limited to, glass replacement, electrical repairs, wood repairs, painting and metal repairsRequest needed equipment, materials and suppliesPerform seasonal duties such as salting and snow removal, litter removal, trimming, etc., as directed Maintain a clean, safe and neat boiler roomRefill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers and bathroom tissue in all school building restroomsCheck the boiler room nightly for orderliness, safety, etc.Secure building nightlyConduct periodical inspections of the buildingComplete paperwork as required by the supervisorAttend meetings and in-services as requiredMaintain a daily work routine to adequately service the buildings, grounds, and personnelCheck and prepare controls for water, lights, heat and cooling facilities as assignedCheck building to assure maximum securitySweep, clean, mop, wash, wax, dust, wipe and vacuum all surfaces to maintain cleanliness throughout building and grounds and supervise other employees doing the sameKeep work and storage areas neat and orderlyTour building periodically and remain alert for dangerous, hazardous conditions, or items in need of maintenanceSet up equipment and furniture for special events and use of building for school and community years related experience desiredMust be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of cleaning processMust be able to demonstrate the ability to use most common hand toolsSuch alternatives to the above
