The Outside Plant Engineer is a subject matter expert for all technical aspects of outside plant facilities and associated work such as cable sizing, cable counts, cable records, and permitting for ROW's and easements. This position works as a team member with Network Planning, Central Office, Transmission, and Operations to support the growth, replacements, and upgrades of telecommunications plant facilities.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nThe Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed below are a range of duties performed by the employee and are not intended to reflect all duties performed. Frontline project management for all construction activities associated with outside plant activity.\nEngineering design for outside plants.\nProactive review of outside plant facilities to determine necessary upgrades and enhancements.\nCommunicate with state, county, city, and national indices to gain information on planned projects that involve growth and changes.\nCoordinate with all utilities for project design and construction to utilize a joint trench.\nCommunicate with all peers and departments to ensure proper project planning.\nMaintain accurate cable records and updates.\nAttend pre-construction meetings for project designs.\nApply for all permits as required (State, DNR, City, County, Townships).\nMaintain and investigate ROW's and easements for releases.\nPrepare cost estimates for BDT's.\nRespond to DOR's as needed.\nUpdate records according to As-Builts.\nSupport sales, marketing, operations, and regulatory as needed.\nAssist in annual budget design.\nQualifications: B.S. in Engineering or equivalent work experience, or a minimum of 3 years' experience in an outside plant position.\nOutside plant construction project management experience and inventory management experience.\nExperience in ROW, private easement and permitting with local, state, and federal entities.\nMust be able to demonstrate knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout, and capacities.\nMust possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of outside plant activity and engineering tools to include Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, etc.\nOrganizational skills, communication skills (written and verbal), and customer relations will be utilized in achieving desired results.\nStrong interpersonal skills to collaborate with the Engineering team, regional managers, vendors, local supervisors, and technicians.\nAbility to manage multiple projects in various stages of activity and meet critical deadlines.\nAbility to drive on behalf of the company safely and responsibly.\n\nPay $30-$36/hr DEO\n\nShape the future.
