The ideal candidate should have:\r\nA solid foundation in data systems/database internals\r\nExperience working with Postgres databases internals (bonus points if you have experience working with pgrx)\r\nProficiency in systems programming with C/C++/Rust/Zig (bonus points for Rust)\r\nStrong background in full-text search systems and/or data analytics/query engines is a plus\r\nFamiliarity with Tantivy and/or OLAP query engines like Apache DataFusion is a plus\r\nWe're seeking someone creative, independent, and excited by difficult technical challenges who can teach us as much as they learn from us. The ideal candidate will bring thoughtful opinions to the team, be excited to engage with and learn from customers, and be willing to wear many hats.\r\nYou want to be part of the core team of a fast-growing infrastructure startup\r\nYou want to wear many hats and interface directly with customers\r\nYou're passionate about the Postgres ecosystem, databases, search technologies, and/or data analytics\r\nYou're excited about diving deep into the internals of Postgres and writing high-performance, safe Rust code to elevate Postgres for search and analytical workloads\r\nYou're excited to learn about the internals of Tantivy, Apache DataFusion, and columnar file formats like Parquet/Arrow to inspire optimizations in ParadeDB\r\nYou believe in open-source and want to contribute to building a sustainable open-source business\r\nYou want autonomy over your work and the opportunity to make impactful design decisions\r\nYou have meaningful experience working with Postgres internals, whether through contributions to core Postgres or through high-quality Postgres extension work\r\nYou have prior experience working on complex data systems in Rust, C++, C or Zig and can navigate a complex codebase effectively (bonus points if you have contributions to an open-source project that you can showcase)\r\nYou have architected data system(s) focusing on performance, scalability, and maintainability (bonus points if in Rust)\r\nYou have optimized and debugged complex systems using profiling tools\r\nYou have prior experience at a small, high-performing startup\r\nOverall, you're smart, willing to work hard, communicative, and open to learning about any service or framework you may not have worked with before\r\nYou'll develop and optimize the ParadeDB Postgres extension by implementing features interfacing with Postgres block storage, query planner, query executor, index definition, and more using Postgres APIs via pgrx\r\nYou'll develop with the internals of Tantivy, sometimes making modifications to Tantivy as required, to implement new features within the ParadeDB Postgres extension\r\nYou'll design and implement efficient data structures and algorithms for search and analytical functionalities, drawing inspiration from or directly utilizing existing open-source projects like Tantivy and DataFusion\r\nYou'll optimize query performance and resource utilization using profiling tools\r\nYou'll develop and maintain documentation, including API references and user guides\r\nYou'll engage directly with our customers and open-source community on GitHub and Slack\r\nYou'll contribute to technical writing, product demos, and content marketing\r\nYou'll help shape ParadeDB's product roadmap and technical direction\r\nPlease send your resume and anything else you'd like to share to founders@paradedb.com.
