When you work at the AFL-CIO, you’re more than just an individual employee—you’re helping to lead a movement with a proud history and a bright future ahead.\nThis position will work within the Political and Campaigns Division of the Political and Field Mobilization Department in order to advance the implementation and objectives of the AFL-CIO’s 2026 electoral work.\nThis position reports to the Assistant Political Director & National Campaigns Director.\nThis is a temporary position not to exceed November 30, 2026.\nDUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:\nWork closely with the Political and Field Mobilization labor 2026 team to increase union participation in labor to include ”opting in” to political and member education programs such as local union mail, digital ads, and social influencer programs for all priority races during the 2026 election cycle.\nWork with and assist affiliates, labor bodies, and local unions to get them signed up for the AFL-CIO Local Union Mail program.\nLearn and utilize program platforms like the Working Families Toolkit, Local Union Database, and Action Builder in order to support local unions with their local union mail program investment.\nCollaborate regularly with assigned state leads, campaign managers, and field staff.\nMaintain and update tracking systems to ensure accuracy.\nPrepare regular progress reports to keep the team updated.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS:\n3 years of experience in political campaigns or organizations with specific demonstrated experience in campaign or organizational outreach.\nKnowledge of the workings of the labor movement and its structure or proven track record navigating intense, dynamic environments\nEffective time management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects, including demonstrated experience in developing campaign and/or personal work plans and goals.\nDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suites.\nAbility to understand the various programs and resources of the AFL-CIO for election education work; assess political issues or gaps; and follow through with solutions and resolution of issues.\nDemonstrated ability to work well within a team.\nExperience using the VAN voter file system is preferred.\nAbility to work extended hours to meet deadlines, including weekends.\n\nApplicant Tracking Software by ExactHire: g2j6075leq386lxm13wd","company":"Aflcio","rawCompany":"aflcio","city":"Washington","state":"DC","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-07-16T01:41:53.920Z","occupations":[{"code":"11-9151.00","title":"Social and Community Service Managers","slug":"social-and-community-service-managers"},{"code":"13-1151.00","title":"Training and Development Specialists","slug":"training-and-development-specialists"},{"code":"11-2033.00","title":"Fundraising Managers","slug":"fundraising-managers"}],"industries":[{"code":"813319","title":"Other Social Advocacy Organizations","slug":"other-social-advocacy-organizations"},{"code":"813940","title":"Political Organizations","slug":"political-organizations"},{"code":"813930","title":"Labor Unions and Similar Labor Organizations","slug":"labor-unions-and-similar-labor-organizations"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Program Development Specialist (Temporary)","description":"Are you passionate about economic fairness and social justice?
