Job Description Description: JOB SUMMARYThe Lifeguard is responsible for the successful operation of the aquatics department along with continually overseeing the activities at the aquatic center and provide outstanding customer service to the members.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure the safety of the facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergenciesEnforce all aquatic center policies, rules, and regulationsWork and directly communicate with the Head Lifeguard/Manager on a daily basisEnsure implementation of all safety programs and cleaning proceduresConstantly strive to improve the present level of business through the use of all current customer service policiesConstantly strive to improve the appearance of the pool area through a daily pool maintenance checklist.Maintain a professional appearance and conduct himself or herself at all times in accordance with the corporate standards of business conduct found in the Employee ManualClean and police all areas at all timesContinue to develop professional status through continued training and education as outlined as a Red Cross lifeguardAssist in the development of new service programs for controlling the pool areaFollow the daily productivity/maintenance check list each working dayAnswer question regarding pool rules quickly and remind them where they are postedStay alert at all times when in the Lifeguard Chair, which means no casual talking and consistent head scanningFollow the guard rotation schedule as outlined by the Head Lifeguard/Manager to ensure coverage of the scanningKeep pool area swept and organizedOther duties and responsibilities as assignedRequirements:REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust have aquatics knowledgeExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsThorough knowledge and application of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniquesAn understanding of facility policies, procedures, and rulesLeadership qualities and public relation skillsREQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCERed CrossLifeguard CertifiedAmerican Red Cross Community First Aid and SafetyAmerican Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional RescuerMust be at least 15 years in age
