As a Principal Software Engineer, your dedication and hard work will directly impact driving our ambitious projects forward and redefining our industry.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead projects, initiatives, and efforts to streamline development activities\nLead and prioritize tasks optimally to meet deadlines.\nDesign, develop, and test secure high-quality software solutions.\nChampion a culture of innovation and excellence within the engineering team\nProvide technical leadership and direction for complex software projects\nImplement software improvements and resolve defects or issues.\nPerform code reviews to ensure alignment with established guidelines.\nIdentify bottlenecks and bugs within the software, devising effective solutions to address them.\nActively participate in the full software development lifecycle, from planning to deployment.\nStay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and frameworks and share learning by hosting training sessions\nBe available to address operational issues as they arise.\nMentor and guide junior engineers.\nOther duties as assigned.\nOccasional travel to Danvers, Massachusetts - Abiomed headquarters - or other affiliated sites as required.\n\nQualifications\nQualifications\nEducation:\nA minimum of 10-15 years of experience in software engineering\nMaster's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.\nExperience and Skills:\nRequired:\nProven experience in software development, including designing and implementing complex systems.\nExpertise in programming languages such as, but not limited to, C#, Python, TypeScript, Java, and C++.\nStrong knowledge of software engineering principles, secure coding practices, algorithms, and data structures.\nExperience with Agile methodologies and working in a collaborative team environment.\nExcellent problem-solving and debugging skills.\nExperience working with source control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps).\nFamiliarity with cloud service providers (Azure, AWS, GCP) and cloud-native development.\nAuthor automated solutions to support software products within a regulated environment.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nExperience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).\nKnowledge of database management systems (SQL and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB).\nPreferred:\nExperience in the medical device industry or other regulated environments.\nFamiliarity with DevOps practices and tools.\nKnowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.\nExperience in developing microservices architectures.\nProficiency in front-end technologies such as React or Angular.\nExperience with data analytics and machine learning.\nThe anticipated base pay range for this position is $113,000 - $195,500\n\nThe Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.
