This dual-skilled role ensures quality imaging, patient safety, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The technologist works collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and healthcare staff to deliver high-quality patient-centered care.Essential FunctionsPerforms radiologic exams including general X-ray and screening/diagnostic mammography per physician ordersPositions patients and selects appropriate imaging parameters based on exam protocols and patient conditionPrepares and operates radiographic and mammographic equipment safely and efficientlyReviews images for quality and accuracy before submission for interpretationAssists radiologists during specialized procedures including diagnostic mammograms and breast localizationMaintains accurate documentation and image records in the PACS/RIS systemAdheres to ALARA principles and radiation safety guidelinesEnsures proper infection control practices and room/equipment cleanlinessProvides clear instructions and compassionate care to patients throughout the imaging processReports equipment malfunctions or safety issues promptly and ensures downtime procedures are followedParticipates in quality assurance activities and supports ACR/FDA/MQSA compliance standardsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsStrong knowledge of radiographic and mammographic techniques, anatomy, and safety standardsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and teamworkAttention to detail and accuracy in imaging, documentation, and schedulingAbility to adapt to changing work priorities and manage multiple tasksDemonstrates professionalism, confidentiality, and patient advocacy at all timesCapable of working independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environmentQualificationsEducationGraduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program requiredLicenses/CertificationsARRT certification in Radiologic Technology (R) requiredARRT certification in Mammography (M) required or must be obtained within timeframe required by facility policyBLS certification requiredExperienceMinimum one (1) year of experience in diagnostic radiography requiredPrior experience in mammography preferred
