Candidates must become certified in basic traffic safety techniques by attending a training class provided by the company. The Traffic Controller must create a safe work zone that ensures traffic does not cause a threat to the workers. This involves setting up cones and barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tell traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly. Traffic Controllers must constantly be aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them. Compliance with all safety regulations is mandatory.\r\nThe Traffic Controller's principal activities are performing traffic control and flagging duties at assigned job sites, including setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary work zones. Driving or traveling from the employee's home to the job site (or, if applicable, assigned meeting location) and from the job site (or, if applicable, assigned meeting location) to the employee's home, whether in a personal or company vehicle, is not a principal activity of this position and constitutes non-compensable commuting time under the Fair Labor Standards Act and applicable state law.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nSetup, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, traffic cones, and rumble strips according to ATSSA and DOT regulations\r\nLoad and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle at the job site\r\nComplete and submit all necessary paperwork in a timely manner before leaving the last job site\r\nWear and maintain proper PPE in accordance with Wright specific policy\r\nEnsure that company vehicles are kept clean and orderly and inform management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems\r\nReview start time and address of job site or meeting location (if applicable) as established and sent by office scheduler via company app\r\nRead and understand Wright safety manual and employee handbook\r\nReports directly to a Field Supervisor\r\nOther job duties as assigned\r\nRequirements\r\nMust be 18 years of age or older\r\nMust have a smartphone with internet access for timekeeping and communication to receive work schedule\r\nBe able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain\r\nPass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug free status\r\nBe able to stand throughout your entire shift; hand and arm movement is required\r\nThe position does not allow for frequent breaks\r\nBe able to lift 50 pounds\r\nBe physically capable of performing all flagging duties\r\nHave reliable transportation to and from job sites. All employees are permitted to drive their own vehicles to the job site or assigned meeting location.
