If you are interested in an opportunity to get your foot in the door with leading company, we want to talk with you!Location: Dearborn, MIWork Model: Hybrid - 4 days onsite (Monday-Thursday)Pay Rate: $45-$46/hour (W2)Duration: Long-term contractRole OverviewWe are seeking a highly technical Software Systems Developer / Systems Engineer to lead the development of complex vehicle features from early concept through production. This role focuses on system architecture, software development, and integration of next-generation vehicle technologies, combining systems engineering with hands-on software expertise.The ideal candidate has experience launching complex features or systems, strong problem-solving skills, and deep knowledge of both hardware and software operations within an automotive environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as systems architect for feature development with a focus on new and emerging technologiesLead feature development at the systems level from early concept through production, including upgrade and migration planningDevelop high-level network, wiring, and power distribution architectures (schematics, block diagrams, topologies)Allocate features and functions to meet cost, quality, performance, and customer requirementsCreate feature, functional, and implementation-level specifications and requirementsDevelop and maintain:Failure Mode Avoidance documentationFeature verification and test plansFunctional safety and cybersecurity assessments and mitigationsDesign feature systems using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and software development practices (Python, C++; tools such as Gherkin)Develop, test, and deploy endpoint hardware and software solutions across the enterprise while ensuring compatibility with existing systemsReview existing system designs to identify cost, quality, and performance improvementsCollaborate with product, program, core engineering, and cross-functional teams to deliver balanced technical solutionsAnalyze complex, multi-functional systems and implement innovative solutionsLead technical trade-off discussions across multiple functionsClearly communicate complex technical concepts, issues, and resolutionsApply connected data and analytics to better understand customer use casesEngage with suppliers to evaluate emerging technologies and implementation opportunitiesServe as a technical contributor to next-generation vehicle development, bridging systems and software engineering to deliver advanced digital experiencesRequired SkillsSystems EngineeringModel-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)System architecture and feature decompositionUnderstanding of vehicle electrical systems, networks, wiring, and power distributionTechnical RequirementsAuthoring feature, functional, and implementation-level requirementsFailure Mode Avoidance documentationFeature verification planningFunctional safety and cybersecurity assessmentsSoftware Development LifecycleEnd-to-end feature development from concept to productionUpgrade and migration planningTest plan development and issue resolutionPython development; familiarity with C++ preferredRequired ExperienceBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field3+ years of Systems Engineering experience (automotive preferred)3+ years of Software Engineering experienceStrong understanding of vehicle electrical systems and featuresWorking knowledge of:Electrical module designNetworking and CAN communicationWiring and power distributionBody, chassis, and vehicle systemsProven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve complex software and system issuesPreferred ExperienceMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field5+ years of experience in an automotive engineering roleElectrical systems engineering experience, including familiarity with the systems engineering V-modelKnowledge of quality and systems documentation (DFMEA, boundary diagrams, special characteristics)Strong background in writing specifications and technical requirementsHands-on experience developing, implementing, and supporting software applicationsExperience progressing customer use cases through design, architecture, development, testing, and integrationStrong systems thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to lead multi-functional teams and technical discussionsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with electrical design and release (D&R) and/or electrical testingEducationRequired: Bachelor's degreePreferred: Master's degreeAdditional InformationHybrid schedule: 4 days onsite per week (Monday-Thursday)Typical successful candidates have launched complex features or systems and bring deep systems knowledge combined with hands-on hardware and software experienceExperience with Python, GitHub, and modern software development practices is highly beneficialBenefitsAs a Software Systems Developer / Systems Engineering with Bartech Staffing, you will be working through an established and respected staffing organization with over 40 years of serving as a trusted partner to our client companies.
