The MineStar product range links with other mining and business information systems and is an integral part of the Mining Technology Enabled Solutions vision.\n\nWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Java Developer to join our multi-disciplinary delivery teams that deliver world class mining software solutions. The Java Developer will be responsible for developing software within a high performing, self-managing and dynamic team, delivering high-value software for our enterprise customers.\n\nWhat You Will Do:\n\nDesign, build and maintain Java-based applications and services that support Caterpillar’s MineStar ecosystem.\nProduce clean, well-tested, maintainable code aligned to agreed standards, with quality, security and resilience built in, and with appropriate automated tests, reviews and documentation.\nWork with the scrum team to deliver features end-to-end, from refinement and estimation through to implementation, testing and release.\nContribute to solution design and technical decision-making for complex problems, creating clear design artefacts to support delivery and ongoing support.\nParticipate in code and design reviews, promoting engineering standards and continuous improvement in quality, performance and reliability.\nTake ownership of assigned technical outcomes, communicating progress, risks and dependencies and helping the team deliver predictably.\nPartner with Product, Engineering and Quality Engineering to clarify requirements, align on acceptance criteria and incorporate feedback.\nSupport production operations by monitoring services, troubleshooting incidents, performing root-cause analysis and implementing sustainable fixes.\nMentor and support other engineers through pairing, coaching and knowledge sharing; contribute to hiring and capability uplift as needed.\n\nWhat You Will Have:\n\nProgramming: Knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools; ability to test, write, design, debug, troubleshoot and maintain source codes and computer programs.\nProven experience developing mission-critical Java software in multi-threaded and distributed environments, with expertise in concurrent processing, real-time system performance and algorithm-based software development.\nSoftware Development Life Cycle: Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.\nIndustry Knowledge: Knowledge of the organization's industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.\nTechnical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.\nProblem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.\n\nConsiderations For Top Candidates:\n\nA commercial experience of implementing microservices and distributed architecture, modern database design and technologies, web applications on cloud infrastructure, build, test, and dependency management tools, and Restful APIs.\nJava, Spring, Spring Boot, and microservices development\nWillingness to learn and consistent approach to self-development and improvement.\nWillingness to take on-board and provide feedback to colleagues, junior staff, and leaders.\nStrong analytical, design and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to effectively manage your own time and agreed priorities.\nExperience with modern security principles and technologies\n\nAdditional Information:\n\nThis position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Irving, TX office.\nDomestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.\nVisa sponsorship is NOT available with this position.\nThis position will require up to 10% travel\n#LI\n\nSummary Pay Range:\n\n$112,710.00 - $183,140.00\n\nCompensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
