Road Race Director
Job Type Full-time Description At Ragnar, we have built a premiere series of road and trail running adventures. While we are excited about the progress we've made over the past 22 years, we feel like we are just scratching the surface. We want to change how folks spend their weekend and infuse adventure into?their?everyday life.? We have built a coast-to-coast relay series, our own technology platform, dabbled in virtual events and partnered with some amazing brands along the way. Here at Ragnar, we are a passionate and scrappy team coming together from a wide range of backgrounds to solve incredibly complex problems and deliver amazing experiences. We are looking for a Road Race Director to join our team. This position will direct multiple road races per year. Road Race Directors will plan, organize, and execute all race day logistics. The position will develop and execute strategic and tactical event operation plans, establish, and manage overall event operation budgets and perform other duties related to the company's operational strategy. Who you are:?? You are a logistics and organizational master. The thought of managing dozens of relationships, a million details, and many moving parts over 200 miles excites you. You are an adaptable, forward thinker, who knows that no matter how early you finished your planning or finalized all the details of an event, unexpected things always seem to find their way to the surface. When things do go awry, you can think on the fly, make sound decisions, and act quickly to get things back on course. Your organizational skills are off the charts and somehow your brain is able to see the big picture simultaneously with all the crucial details.? Essential functions and responsibilities: Excellent communication with all parties inside and outside of the companyAssist in the development of race budgets and expense management, and adhere to the sameAcquire necessary permits - Venues, Cities, Counties, Fire, Health, DOT, etc.Provide vendor management - contracts, deliveries, equipment, etc.Manage charity relationships and execute charity commitmentsCoordinate all logistics for the raceCreate effective layouts (parking, shuttle, venue, evacuation, etc.)Pre-race travel, course/venue setup, and Race Day executionResponsible for maintaining a safe and logistically sound race routeSupervise post-race wrap-up - both internal and external, compile all feedback and needed improvements, and implement the necessary changes the following yearCustomer Service - Answer questions forwarded from customer service or that come directly to youRepresent the brand of Ragnar and present yourself in a professional manorDrive large vehicles up to 26' U-Haul trucksSustainability - Help execute the race sustainability plan, including waste reduction, energy use, and procurement practicesVendor management - Scoping, contracts, deliveries, equipment, etc.Other tasks as assigned RequirementsBachelor's DegreeMinimum 2-5 years relevant experienceLeadership experience requiredExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a member of a team and multiple cross-functional project teamsWell-organized with the ability to multitask, time management, and close attention to detailDetail-oriented self-starter with the ability to prioritize projects, work within short time frames, and meet deadlinesConflict resolution experienceHeavy lifting (50 lbs.)Working weekends and long hours during racesAny experience with budget management, operations, event management, and/or logistics is a big bonusHaving run and/or worked a Ragnar is a plus Physical Demands: While performing duties of the job, the incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
