These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.\n\nTeam Description\nThe Robotics & Surgery Engineering Team is developing our next-generation surgical platform to facilitate bringing our cutting-edge brain implant to more of those in need. We’re working on driving surgery time and invasiveness down, while pushing safety and accuracy to their maximums.\n\nJob Description and Responsibilities\nAs a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Neuralink, you will have the opportunity to design and produce hardware solutions for our brain-machine interface devices, including surgical robotics, automation, microfabrication, and more. You will get to own projects from concept to production, utilizing your mechanical engineering background in the challenging field of brain-machine interfaces. The role involves collaboration with neuroscientists, biologists, and engineers to determine design criteria and build systems quickly and effectively.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n6+ months experience of in the application of technical skills outside of the classroom (examples depending on the role: laboratory, research, extracurricular project teams, open source contributions, volunteering, personal projects or prior internship/work experience)\n\nStrong understanding of engineering first principles\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n1+ years of mechanical engineering industry experience, including owning products from concept to production\n\nProficiency in Solidworks or similar CAD program\n\nExperience with conventional machining and rapid prototyping technologies\n\nExperience with precision design and manufacturing\n\nExperience with advanced imaging techniques\n\nAdditional Requirements and Competencies\n\nResourceful, flexible and adaptable; no task is too big or too small\n\nYou find large challenges exciting and enjoy discovering and defining problems as much as solving them\n\nYou deliver.
