Contact ZelTech Recruiters for questions concerning this matter. **\nJob Summary:\nZel Tech is seeking a highly qualified Bioinformatics Data Scientist that will provide SME support to our government customer in Charlottesville, Virginia.\nResponsibilities:\nThe Bioinformatics Data Scientist shall aide in the following areas:\nDirects and guides DNA/RNA sequence database searches and the computational analysis of resulting data.\nImplement end-users’ needs in database searching and integration.\nMaintain the computational infrastructure and controls the flow of samples and information for large-scale studies.\nProvide web-based bioinformatics and access to public and proprietary relational databases.\nDevelop and applies computational tools.\nWork in collaboration with drug discovery project\nProvides direct support for bioinformatics, regex queries, developing and searching key words and biological ontologies.\nFocused data discovery and retrieval from given datasets.\nAccurately documents and maintains detailed records of activities to assure achievement of customer driven requirements.\nInterface heavily with principal investigators, support staff and government technical leads.\nWork under limited supervision, making complex decisions independently and referring unprecedented issues to government leadership.\nRequirements:\nMust be a US citizen.\nActive TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly.\nThree (3) or more years of experience safeguarding and handling classified material.\nBachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, computational / quantitative biology, computer science, engineering, statistics, applied mathematics or related quantitative field and ten (10) or more years of work experience.\nProficiency in statistical analysis.\nExperience with data analysis and visualization.\nStrong programming ability in Python\nSelf-teaching and mastering unfamiliar topics.\nSuccessful background check.\nPreferred Requirements:\nMaster’s degree and five (5) or more years of experience.\n5-10 years’ bio data experience with 5 years WMD-Bio intelligence.\nDOD contracting experience.\nPhysical Demands or Work Environment:\nThe work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
