This role ensures products meet performance, safety, and quality standards while supporting manufacturing efficiency and customer requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign & Development\n\nDesign hydraulic and pneumatic hose assembly components, end fittings, swivel fittings, couplings, and assembly systems.\n\nDevelop crimp and swage specifications, tooling, and manufacturing/assembly processes.\n\nDevelop and validate analytical models utilizing a combination of metallic and non-metallic components.\n\nCreate 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) using CAD software.\n\nDevelop inspection requirements such as crimp/swage tolerances, proof testing pressures, media and duration.\n\nEnsure designs comply with industry standards (e.g., SAE, ISO, AMS, ASTM) and customer and regulatory requirements.\n\nWork with sales and customers to develop product requirements, match existing product or determine what is needed for new product.\n\nDesign tooling, fixturing, and leak test tooling required to fabricate assemblies.\n\nStrong knowledge of stainless steel and polymers (PTFE) is an asset.\n\nDevelopment and interpretation of design standards.\n\nProduct Engineering\n\nDefine hose assembly performance requirements (pressure, vacuum, temperature, vibration, environmental conditions).\n\nConduct tolerance analysis, material selection, and stress/thermal evaluations.\n\nSupport new product development (NPD) initiatives from concept through production.\n\nTesting & Validation\n\nDevelop and oversee product verification tests throughout product development phases (burst, impulse, pressure cycling, leak testing). Perform product failure analysis supporting design recommendations.\n\nExperience both internal and external testing laboratories.\n\nAnalyze test data and implement design improvements.\n\nDevelop engineering test plans and reports.\n\nCrimping & Swaging Process Engineering\n\nDesign and optimize crimping/swaging profiles and parameters (diameter, compression force, tooling geometry).\n\nTroubleshoot attachment issues and support production teams.\n\nStandardize attachment specifications across product lines.\n\nManufacturing Support\n\nProvide technical support to production, assembly, and quality teams along with sales and customer service.\n\nDevelop assembly instructions, work procedures, and training materials. Train internal assemblers and distributors as needed.\n\nWork with fabricating distributors to troubleshoot assembly issues.\n\nCollaborate on continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma).\n\nQuality & Compliance\n\nParticipate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).\n\nKnowledge of assembly teardown and analysis to determine root cause.\n\nSupport audits, PPAPs, and FMEA development.\n\nEnsure compliance with safety and quality standards.\n\nA good understanding of 300 series stainless steel is an asset.\n\nCustomer & Cross-Functional Collaboration\n\nEngage with customers to understand application requirements and provide technical solutions.\n\nCollaborate with Procurement, Planning, Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams across multiple sites.\n\nSupport field issues, warranty analysis, and product improvements.\n\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.\n\n5+ years of experience in hose assembly design, fluid conveyance, or related mechanical systems.\n\nProficiency in CAD software 3D and 2D (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, CATIA).\n\nStrong understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic systems and fluid dynamics fundamentals.\n\nExperience with crimping & swaging processes and hose assembly manufacturing and Design for Manufacturing principles.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nKnowledge of SAE/ISO standards for fluid conveyance products; hose assemblies, end fittings, swivel fittings, couplings.\n\nExperience with testing methods associated with fluid conveyance products (impulse, burst, vacuum, etc.).\n\nFamiliarity with ERP/PLM systems.\n\nLean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience.\n\nBackground in aerospace, automotive, or industrial fluid conveyance products.\n\nKey Skills\n\nStructured analytical and problem-solving abilities\n\nAttention to detail and a precision engineering mindset\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.
