The Benson Portland, Curio Collection by Hilton is one of Portland’s finest historic, luxury and boutique hotels. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Conference Services Manager who can plan, organize, and manage the in-house details for groups, banquets and catering bookings (e.g. guest rooms, menus, set-up, etc.)
The Conference Services Manager is responsible for the management and planning of meetings/conventions/groups and related activities. Recommends and implements procedural changes and performs as team leader for all hotel department staffs participating in the event delivery process. Ensure maximization of room and meeting space, revenues, and profits while delivering a quality product.
Other responsibilities include:
- Maintain an active trace/follow-up system on all inquiries.
- Handle billing transactions, amenity requests, reports, paperwork and other duties deemed necessary by the hotel management.
- Handle all aspects of the event including diagrams, Banquet Event Orders, face to face meetings, and the procurement of their event supplies.
- Plan and/or attend and/or participate in meetings with hotel staff and clients, including but not exclusive to: Banquet Event Order Meeting, Menu Tastings, Resume/Staff Meetings and Planning Visits.
- Keep Catering and Banquet teams promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matter so prompt corrective action can be taken where appropriate.
- Work with the Sales Team to develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers.
- Conduct regular client visits site inspections.
- Develop and maintain best practices, policies, and service initiatives to achieve optimal sales service and client retention and be established as a leader within The Benson Hotel & Hilton Worldwide as well as in the community.
- Attend staff meetings, sales meeting, sales training, pre-con and post-con meetings as needed.
- Maintain daily communication and/or weekly reporting to the DOSM, Managing Director/GM, DOC and Revenue team regarding potential new business, lost business, sales activities, customer, and operational issues.
- Maintain accurate and timely account activities and relevant contact information in the properties Sales/Catering system per established standards.

Requirements:
Delphi or other Sales & Catering Software program experience preferred
Minimum high school diploma
Hotel sales/events experience preferred
Requires highly developed customer service skills
Available on weekends and evenings, as needed
