Geotechnical Project Engineer

Position Title: Geotechnical Project Engineer (PE Required)Location: Columbus, Georgia or Auburn, AlabamaClearance Requirements: NonePosition Status: Full TimePay Rate: $90,000 – $120,000 annually (based on experience) + Relocation Assistance AvailablePosition DescriptionWe are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with 5–8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering to lead and deliver impactful infrastructure and development projects across public works, transportation, commercial, energy, and industrial sectors.This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Geotechnical Project Engineer who is ready to take ownership of projects, mentor junior engineers, and grow into expanded leadership responsibilities.In this role, you will manage projects from subsurface investigations and geotechnical analysis through design recommendations, reporting, client engagement, and construction support, ensuring safety, quality, and technical excellence throughout.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and perform geotechnical field investigations, subsurface explorations, and site inspectionsConduct soil mechanics analysis, foundation design, slope stability analysis, settlement calculations, and earthwork evaluationsInterpret and evaluate laboratory and field testing data for technical reportingPrepare and review detailed geotechnical engineering reports, proposals, and cost estimatesManage project scope, schedule, and budgets to ensure successful deliveryProvide technical quality control and peer review of engineering documentsDevelop engineering recommendations and resolve design and construction challengesReview construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specificationsSupervise and mentor graduate engineers, field staff, and project engineersInterface directly with clients to define scope, communicate findings, and provide solutionsSupport business development efforts including proposal writing and client relationship managementPromote strong safety culture and quality assurance practicesRequired Skills/EducationBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering disciplineActive Professional Engineer (PE) license required5–8 years of geotechnical engineering experience1–2+ years of experience post-PE licensure preferredStrong expertise in:Geotechnical analysis and designSoil mechanics and foundation engineeringTechnical report preparationConstruction observation and inspectionExperience managing project budgets, timelines, and client relationshipsDemonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior staffStrong written and verbal communication skillsValid driver’s license with acceptable driving recordMaster’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferredWhat High-Performing Candidates BringDeep technical proficiency in geotechnical design and data interpretationStrong project management and client-facing experienceAbility to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly and effectivelyLeadership mindset with commitment to mentoring and team developmentFocus on safety, quality, and continuous improvementWe are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and encourage qualified professionals from all backgrounds to apply.Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.About Seneca ResourcesAt Seneca Resources, we are more than just a staffing and consulting firm — we are a trusted career partner.
