A candidate placed in this position will be a technical leader in the Networking and Connectivity Solutions Validation Team, focused on bringing advanced connectivity devices to market, including Ethernet switches, USB 3.2 hubs, PCI-Express devices and switches, Automotive Ethernet PHY’s, and other connectivity interfaces in excess of 25Gbps.\nResponsibilities include:\nLead development, ownership, and execution of validation strategies and test plans aligned with product requirements, technical risk, customer impact, program schedules, and market needs\nPerform and lead lab‑based validation, including design bring‑up, characterization, and interoperability testing for high‑speed connectivity devices\nReview, analyze, and clearly communicate validation results, debug findings, and recommendations to project and management stakeholders\nSpecify and design test environments including software, lab equipment, and test board requirements\nServe as a cross‑functional validation interface, collaborating closely with Design, Verification, Applications, Marketing and Product Engineering teams\nResponsible for leading cross‑functional debug and root‑cause discussions along with owning and driving JIRA‑based debug workflows\nSupport customer issue reproduction and escalations by collaborating with Applications and Field Engineering teams\nMentor junior validation engineers\nContribute to continuous improvement of validation processes, metrics, and best practices\nRequirements/Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline\n12+ Years combined experience in one or more of the following:\nHigh-Speed Digital design/testing\nAnalog/Mixed-Signal design/testing\nSystems design/testing\nPower IC Design and/or Test\nPrior experience driving cross functional teams and projects\nPrior experience mentoring junior engineers\nStrong verbal and written communication skills\nStrong organization skills and the ability to develop hardware design specification based on input from multiple stakeholders and specifications\nStrong working knowledge of Electronics Lab equipment, e.g., Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer (any protocol)\nMust be self-motivated and able to work in collaborative group environment or independently\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline\nUnderstanding of, and experience with, high‑speed connectivity protocols, including, Ethernet, USB (USB 2.0 / USB 3.x), or PCI‑Express\nExperience reviewing schematics and layouts for silicon validation or reference boards\nPython‑based automation for validation, data analysis, or lab equipment control\nExposure to IC device characterization and silicon performance analysis\nTravel Time:\n0% - 25%\nPhysical Attributes:\nFeeling, Hearing, Seeing, Talking, Works Alone, Works Around Others\nPhysical Requirements:\n80% Sitting, 10% Walking, 10% Standing\nMicrochip Technology Inc is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
