This role requires a proactive professional capable of driving complex database lifecycle activities while ensuring operational stability, scalability, and security across mission-critical environments.\nIn this role, you will\n\nLead Oracle Database upgrade initiatives to Oracle 19c, including assessments, planning, testing, implementation, validation, and rollback strategies.\n\nPlan and execute Oracle database migrations from AIX to Linux platforms utilizing RMAN, Data Pump, and other migration methodologies.\n\nManage Oracle Data Guard and Data Guard Broker environments, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and successful failover/switchover operations.\n\nConduct database security assessments using Oracle DBSAT, identify vulnerabilities, and implement remediation plans to meet compliance requirements.\n\nUtilize Oracle Autonomous Health Framework (AHF), including ORAchk, EXAchk, and Trace File Analyzer, for proactive monitoring, diagnostics, and root cause analysis.\n\nSupport Oracle Identity Management integrations, user authentication, authorization, provisioning, and access governance processes.\n\nPerform database administration activities including installation, configuration, patching, backup and recovery, cloning, refreshes, monitoring, and performance tuning.\n\nLead database decommissioning and retirement efforts, ensuring data archival, dependency validation, compliance adherence, and proper documentation.\n\nCollaborate with application, infrastructure, security, storage, and network teams to deliver database-related projects and operational support.\n\nDevelop and maintain implementation plans, technical runbooks, operational procedures, risk assessments, and knowledge transfer documentation.\nWhat you’ll need to succeed (required skills)\n\n8+ years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience supporting enterprise environments.\n\nStrong expertise with Oracle Database versions 11g, 12c, 18c, and 19c.\n\nProven experience performing Oracle 19c upgrades using AutoUpgrade, DBUA, and manual upgrade methodologies.\n\nExtensive knowledge of Oracle Data Guard and Data Guard Broker administration for business continuity and disaster recovery.\n\nExperience conducting Oracle Database Security Assessment Tool (DBSAT) reviews and implementing security hardening recommendations.\n\nHands-on experience with Oracle Autonomous Health Framework (AHF), including ORAchk, EXAchk, and Trace File Analyzer.\n\nProven expertise in Oracle database migrations from AIX to Linux environments.\n\nStrong knowledge of RMAN backup and recovery, database cloning, SQL tuning, performance optimization, Oracle networking, and listener administration.\n\nWorking knowledge of Linux and AIX operating systems, shell scripting, storage architecture, and infrastructure dependencies.\n\nAbility to troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolutions in high-pressure environments.\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nOracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent Oracle database certification.\n\nExperience supporting large-scale enterprise Oracle database environments across production and non-production landscapes.\n\nBackground working within highly regulated environments requiring audit readiness, security compliance, and structured change management.\n\nExperience with Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure, ASM, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), GoldenGate, or cloud-based database deployments.\n\nFamiliarity with cloud migration strategies involving Oracle workloads on AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).\n\nStrong documentation and stakeholder communication skills with the ability to provide executive-level updates.\nSuccess Measures\nThe successful candidate will:\n\nExecute Oracle database upgrades and migrations with minimal operational risk.\n\nMaintain highly available, secure, and performant Oracle database environments.\n\nEnsure disaster recovery readiness and compliance with enterprise security standards.\n\nProvide technical leadership for database modernization initiatives.\n\nImprove operational efficiency through proactive monitoring, automation, and best-practice database administration.\nBenefits: Cognizant offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements:\n\nMedical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance\n\nPaid holidays plus Paid Time Off\n\n401(k) plan and contributions\n\nLong-term/Short-term Disability\n\nPaid Parental Leave\n\nEmployee Stock Purchase Plan\nWork model:\nAt Cognizant, we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible, and we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.
