If you enjoy diving deep on the fundamentals of power systems and applying creative problem-solving techniques to challenging problems, you’ll enjoy working in our department. We’ve got an array of interesting research going on that will give you a unique opportunity to put your schoolwork into practice and work hands-on with state-of-the-art test equipment and software.\n\nWe’re looking for an intern who is able to work part-time in the school year and full-time during the summer. Both undergraduate and graduate interns are welcome. You must be a U.S. Citizen to work in the Government Services Department.\n\nAs an Electrical Engineering Intern, a typical day might include the following:\n\nDevelop and maintain knowledge in SEL processes and technologies.\n\nConduct applied research and design experiments using power system equipment and software.\n\nDocument and communicate test results.\n\nProvide technical support to SEL staff and customers.\n\nThis job might be for you if:\n\nYou are a US Citizen.\n\nYou have at least two to three years undergraduate studies in electrical engineering.\n\nYou have the ability to work in person part-time in the school year and full-time during the summer in Pullman, WA.\n\nYou have working knowledge of modern test equipment, (e.g. power supplies, digital oscilloscope).\n\nYou have practical knowledge of 3-phase power systems.\n\nWe would like to see:\n\nExperience programming using MATLAB or Python.\n\nBasic understanding of signals and systems.\n\nExperience with RTDS/RSCAD, ATP/EMTP-RV, or other power system modeling software.\n\nThe ability to work in person part-time in Pullman during the school year.\n\nLocation\n\nThe SEL corporate office is located in Eastern Washington where you'll enjoy an unmatched quality of life.
