The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of managing and executing buying functions, along with supplier negotiations and selection. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to support daily operations, along with strategic initiatives relating to product development and value improvement.\nRequired Skills and Abilities:\nBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.\n3+ years of progressive experience in materials and supply chain management, with a minimum of two years in supervisory roles.\n6+ years of experience buying in a manufacturing environment, preferably in industrial equipment or heavy machinery.\nStrong leadership, motivation, and managerial skills to train and mentor employees.\nExperience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.\nDemonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information, inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.\nStrong demonstrated negotiation skills.\nProficient using MS Office tools, particularly Excel and its related tools.\nUnderstanding corporate compliance and proven decision-making using integrity and ethics.\nPreferred Skills and Abilities:\nProfessional Certification from ISM or APICS.\nKnowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization techniques.\nKnowledge of ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.\nAbility to read and interpret technical drawings.\nResponsibilities:\nManage buying and strategic buying teams, including actively taking part in the buying and strategic buying functions.\nImplement procurement and replenishment strategy by reviewing and executing daily orders.\nEnsure the proper supply level of purchased products to support production:\nMaintenance, Repair, & Operations (MRO) items & supplies\nRaw material items\nFacility service contracts\nCapital expenditures\nService parts\nIssue and modify purchase orders with supplier feedback on price, quantity, date, terms, etc.\nCoordinate with Production Control, Sales, and Engineering to ensure accurate material delivery dates are understood across the organization.\nUtilize and monitor exception reports for all business metrics; take appropriate and prompt action to prevent stock-outs.\nTrack, investigate, and communicate parts shortages; expedite with suppliers as needed.\nCommunicate with suppliers on past-due shipments and drop-in requirements.\nEnsure material delivery to the production facility is at the correct time in the correct quantity, maintaining proper inventory targets, and avoiding obsolescence.\nReview and approve supplier invoices for payment; challenge where needed.\nTroubleshoot all procure-to-pay problems, collaborating with the Suppliers, Receiving, and Finance to identify root cause and corrective action.\nManage suppliers who provide vendor managed inventory (VMI) and consignment programs.\nCoordinate with Engineering and Sales on requests for quotes on new items.\nResponsible for supplier selection, supplier inventory level maintenance, contract negotiation with suppliers, supplier development, and supplier performance reviews.\nParticipate actively in the Divisional Purchasing organization and liaison regarding global purchase agreements and price negotiations.\nResponsible for the hiring, training, evaluating, supervising, and terminating of team members.\nOther duties as assigned.\nPhysical Requirements:\nMust be able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk.\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or fell, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, taste and or smell.
