You'll meet incredible kids, teach them how to code, and be rewarded with an amazing experience. Operating hours are 4-8pm Monday through Friday and 10am-2pm on Saturday.\n\n*Responsibilities*\n\nA Code Coach® is a mentor who teaches kids how to code. At theCoderSchool, we have a few basic teaching styles - your assignment will depend on schedule, ability, and desire.\n\n* *Code Coaching®.* Our core offering is a weekly private (1:1) or semi-private (3:1, 2:1) coding session with kids. Younger kids will be taught in Scratch or Snap, while older kids gravitate towards Python/Javascript or other advanced languages like Java, C or C# and beyond. The kids will generally create apps that you decide with them and may or may not follow our curriculum. Personalization and customization are strongly encouraged. S\n* *Code Class.* These are traditional curriculum-based classes with a larger student to teacher ratio (6:1), where all students, typically ages 7-10, follow a set specific curriculum. Must be adept at handling groups of kids.\n\nThis position rocks because you will:\n\n* Meet, mentor, and grow amazing kids who are ready to be our next generation of coders!\n* Meet and share with other Code Coaches® who are passionate about the latest platforms and languages, including with schools and coaches from around the country through our collaboration platform.\n* Give back to the community and help grow our next generation by sharing your knowledge of technology.\n* Have the flexibility to teach what you're most comfortable with, and learn new things along the way.\n\n*Skills*\n\nWhat do we want from you?\n\n* *PASSION.* All caps! This is all about the kids, we want goose bumps when your student ROCKS a code challenge.\n* *Great Communicator. * There will be plenty of chatting with parents and staff members, and of course patience is a virtue when it comes to kids!\n* *Street Cred.* Comp Sci degree or current major is typical, but self-learned coders and advanced high school students are welcome to apply. Tech industry veterans with a few free hours per week are also encouraged to apply.\n* *Coding Skills.* Strong grasp of basic procedural programming. General knowledge of a few languages is assumed - Block programming, Javascript, HTML/CSS, Python, Java are most helpful. Deep technical skills aren't required - we prefer you be able to communicate well and find answers along the way with student, rather than know everything upfront.\n* *Teaching Experience*.
