Full Stack Engineer
Wink, Inc. is a data intelligence leader in the life and annuity insurance industry. We are modernizing our applications and giving our customers efficient, data-driven insights. We're engaging a talented Full Stack / Front End Developer on a contract basis to help us ship.You'll have end-to-end ownership of well-scoped deliverables — developing and enhancing the UI architecture of our applications, building across the stack, and working in JavaScript / TypeScript server-side frameworks, APIs, and SQL databases (MySQL, SQL Server).Engagement DetailsType: Independent contractor (1099 or B2B). You are responsible for your own taxes, benefits, and equipment.Duration: Initial 3 to 6-month engagement, renewable based on fit and project needs.Rate: $40–$60 / hour, USD, depending on experience, invoiced monthly.Equipment (BYOD): Contractor provides their own laptop and development equipment (macOS or Linux required - Windows is not supported for this engagement). Device must run a currently supported OS version with an active screen-lock policy. Full-disk encryption (FileVault on macOS, LUKS or equivalent on Linux) is strongly preferred.Location: Remote, all work on Wink's codebase and data must be performed from within the U.S. — no offshoring, subcontracting, or working from outside the country. Proof of U.S. residency required (U.S. Work Permit, Green Card, or U.S. Passport).Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to invoice a U.S. company as a 1099 contractor or via a U.S.-based entity. No visa sponsorship provided.Data handling: All access to Wink systems, source code, and customer data must occur from U.S.-based devices and networks. Contractor agrees not to store, transmit, or process Wink data outside the United States.ResponsibilitiesFrontend development: Implement responsive UIs with modern JavaScript frameworks — primarily SvelteKit — as we transition legacy applications to a more efficient, scalable platform.UI architecture: Contribute to frontend architecture decisions that improve performance, maintainability, and user experience.Database interaction: Use server-side TypeScript to connect to SQL databases and retrieve and manipulate data.Code quality: Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.Problem solving: Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance.Team collaboration: Work alongside designers and engineers asynchronously to deliver high-quality features.RequirementsExperience: 5+ years of experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like Svelte, Vue, React, orAngular with a focus on creating responsive and accessible UI components.Knowledge of Server-Side Frameworks: Familiarity with server-side frameworks such as SvelteKit, NuxtJS, NextJS, Remix, for integrating frontend applications with backend services.Frontend Architecture: Proven track record building functional, effective platforms with sound architectural patterns.Database querying: MySQL experience, can retrieve and present data efficiently.API integration: Comfortable designing and integrating RESTful APIs.Debugging and optimization: Strong perf and resource-efficiency skills across devices.UI/UX mindset: Works closely with designers to translate mockups into polished interfaces.Version control: Proficient with Git.Communication: Clear written communication, proactive status updates, and self-direction.Important: This engagement is open only to candidates residing in the United States for the full duration of the contract.
