Controls EngineerPosition OverviewThe Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting, improving, and commissioning control systems for metal processing and high-volume manufacturing equipment. This role focuses on optimizing existing processes, implementing equipment upgrades, and supporting new system installations to improve safety, quality, throughput, and operational reliability. Reporting to engineering leadership, the Controls Engineer works closely with manufacturing, maintenance, and project teams to deliver data-driven process improvements and sustainable performance gains.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport consistent product quality, process efficiency, and compliance with applicable industry standards in a high-volume manufacturing environment.Assist with the commissioning of new equipment and execution of upgrades or retrofits to existing machinery.Provide hands-on troubleshooting support to maintenance and operations teams for electrical and controls-related issues.Investigate recurring equipment and process problems and develop effective corrective solutions.Evaluate and improve equipment safety functions, alarming systems, and fault diagnostics.Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, improve product quality, and increase process throughput.Analyze machine and process data to detect performance trends, bottlenecks, and reliability gaps.Develop or enhance product recipes, control logic, and process automation strategies.Create and maintain historical data sets to support continuous improvement initiatives.Develop automated reports and dashboards using industrial data platforms to present performance metrics in a clear and actionable format.Support capital project planning by providing technical input on controls scope, system architecture, and implementation strategy.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing engineering, maintenance, production, and project management.Qualifications2 or more years of experience working as a Controls Engineer or in a similar automation-focused role.Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.Working knowledge of industrial control platforms including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and related automation components.Experience supporting or configuring industrial automation systems in a manufacturing environment.Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards such as NFPA, ANSI, and ISO.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose control system and process performance issues.Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.BenefitsCompetitive compensation with a performance-based pay structure (Salary Range - $90K - $130K)Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits at low employee costPaid time off and paid holidays, including flexible floating holidaysOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesLong-term career growth within a global manufacturing organizationBenefits - For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
