Candidate will develop, enhance, and support mission-critical mainframe applications that power healthcare claims processing and related business operations. The role requires hands-on expertise across COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS, along with strong production troubleshooting and systems analysis capabilities.\n\n*Required Qualifications of the Developer III Mainframe:*\n\n* Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies.\n* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; alternatively, 4 years of relevant experience, or 2 years of relevant experience combined with an Associate’s degree in a related field.\n* Minimum of 4 years of experience in application development, systems testing, or a closely related area.\n* Hands-on experience with *COBOL* development, including both batch and online applications.\n* Strong *JCL* experience, including batch processing, job scheduling, restart/recovery, and troubleshooting.\n* Professional experience with *DB2 and SQL*, including database access, query development, and application performance tuning.\n* Hands-on *CICS* experience involving online transaction processing, application development, and production support.\n* Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot production issues and evaluate application changes within a complex mainframe environment.\n* Ability to work onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, as well as additional onsite days when needed; an in-person interview is required.\n* Credit check required; candidates must also be willing to participate in a rotating on-call schedule after onboarding, approximately one week every 8–12 weeks.\n\n*Preferred Skills/Experience of the Developer III Mainframe:*\n\nHealthcare payer or health insurance experience is strongly preferred, particularly hands-on experience with claims adjudication, eligibility, benefits, pricing, provider systems, pharmacy systems, or healthcare claims processing. Additional experience with IMS, IBM MQ/MQ Series, VS Code, GitHub, GitHub Copilot, Zowe, Node.js, Git-based source control, or AI-assisted development practices is beneficial.\n\n*Responsibilities of the Developer III Mainframe:*\n\n* Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions, including designing and implementing application enhancements.\n* Develop, modify, test, and maintain COBOL batch and online programs within a mainframe environment.\n* Create and maintain JCL processes while supporting batch execution, scheduling, job recovery, and restart procedures.\n* Develop and optimize DB2 SQL, access and manipulate application data, and perform database or application performance analysis.\n* Develop and support CICS transactions while investigating and resolving complex production issues affecting critical healthcare applications.\n* Participate in implementations, production deployments, business initiatives, and the rotating after-hours/on-call support schedule.\n\n*Work Location:* Columbia, SC — Partial onsite.
