This leader will need to balance: driving our aggressive product roadmap, improving the performance and stability of our system, introducing engineering best practices into the organization, and leading/mentoring other engineers.\nWhat You'll Do:\nWork closely with our engineering leaders to:\nBuild an open, positive and energized culture\nBuild, lead and hire a high-caliber team of software engineers\nDrive our technical roadmap and direction of our stack\nLead and inspire your team and other engineers to build the best ecommerce products on the planet\nEncourage innovation and foster an environment of continuous improvement\nEnsure that technical decisions support our goals of quality, performance, scalability, reliability, availability and security\nManagement responsibilities:\nBe both a highly technical hands-on coder and an effective people manager\nHold your own in technical discussion, be a subject matter expert and have strategic influence\nCollaborate with product managers, engineers and stakeholders in all corporate offices to promote communication and coordination\nEstablish team objectives in alignment with business goals\nOrganize and facilitate regular 1:1’s with your team for coaching and mentoring\nExecution of performance improvement plans for under-performers\nContinued enforcement of best practices to improve engineering quality and efficiency\nEstablish a sense of urgency and direction; set expectations\nCreate and participate in an on-call rotation for incident management\nWho You Are:\n5+ years experience in building systems in PHP, Go, Python, Typescript, Angular, Ruby, etc.\nThink iteratively by breaking down problems into smaller, deliverable / deployable pieces.\nQuality is the top priority.\nKnowledge of gRPC, RabbitMQ, and familiarity with caching solutions\n2+ years managing engineering teams, including demonstrated track record of growing senior talent and building team structure from the ground up\nExperience with Google Cloud Platform or Cloud Computing desirable\nExperience with relational database systems and external services integrations\nExperience with backend and frontend (UI) development\nExperience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and leading sprint ceremonies.\nExperience with SaaS platforms or Cloud Computing highly desirable\nSolid UNIX / LAMP knowledge (ideally 2+ years working experience with PHP, MySQL, and Linux)\nPrior experience at a commerce software company is a plus\nHave an excellent ability to communicate and to coordinate\nWill speak up when something just doesn’t feel right with productive feedback\nHave excellent problem solving, critical thinking and debugging skills\nHas strong bias to action and the drive to make a difference\nBS degree required or higher degree in Computer Science or related technical field\n#LI-LH1\n#LI-REMOTE\n(Pay Transparency Range: $164,800 - $247,200)\nCompensation Transparency\n\nThe national base salary range for this role is posted above in this job post.\nFinal compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications and geographic location.
