Job Description We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiber Splicer II Technician to join our Outside Plant (OSP) team in Irvine, California. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of fiber optic infrastructure to ensure reliable network performance and efficient data transmission.The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and telecommunications infrastructure, along with a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.CompensationSplicer II Technician: $28–$30/hourContract-to-hire opportunity with long-term growth potentialKey ResponsibilitiesPerform fiber optic splicing, testing, and certification of network infrastructureUtilize fusion splicers, OTDRs, and specialized testing tools to ensure low-loss connectionsConduct OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) testing to verify splice qualityAssist with installation and configuration of network equipment including switches, routers, and firewallsPerform maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of fiber and network systems in the fieldDiagnose and resolve customer network issues on-siteDocument repairs, maintenance activities, and network upgrades accuratelyConduct site surveys and network assessmentsProvide technical support and maintain excellent customer service standardsContribute to a collaborative culture built on trust, integrity, and teamworkUphold and support Cityside Fiber's mission, values, and commitment to excellenceQualifications2+ years of experience in telecommunications, fiber optic splicing, network installation, or related fieldStrong understanding of fiber optic splicing techniques and equipmentExperience working with optical fibers, connectors, and splice closuresAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and fiber mapsProficiency with OTDRs, fusion splicers, and fiber testing equipmentKnowledge of telecommunications infrastructure and networking conceptsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent attention to detail and commitment to safety complianceAbility to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced field environmentsComfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spacesValid driver's license, clean driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insuranceCFOT or other fiber optic certifications preferred
